Anyone install a Nuna Pipa or Cybex Aton 2 infant carseat in their RDX?

$

Hey everyone,

Has anyone installed a Nuna Pipa or Cybex Aton 2 infant seat in their RDX?
If so:
Did you put it in the middle seat?
Did the latch system work, or did you have to use a seat belt?
Does the support leg reach the floor?

For the Nuna- can you fit adults on either side if it's in the middle?

In the event our baby decides to come before we find a good 2011 RDX we like, we may not have the opportunity to test the carseat in the car before we buy it...

TIA!

Car won't go into gear

So I just did a manual transmission swap into my car. I was able to finally start the car and everything sounded great. I tried to put the car in first gear and it would not go in. I tried putting it into every other gear as well as reverse and it would work. I turned the car off, put it into first gear and then started the car. There was a loud grinding sound, a lot worse than the sound it would make when you miss shift. Any ideas?

Headlight Restoration

Just did a headlight restoration using the Turtle Wax kit and it came out very nice! Took my time and wet sanded it down till smooth and it didn't really look very good until I applied the lens wipe. Came our amazing, then faded a little a few days later. Still very nice for the $10-$15 you pay. Maybe I should buff it out with Meguiars Plast-X. Any advice?

Seat belt reminder doesn't work

The seat belt indicator doesn't turn off on my dashboard and there is no sound. I've tried searching all over, but there's only threads about people asking how to disable the seatbelt reminder and no helpful responses.

What could cause this problem?

Where would I begin to troubleshoot?

Did anyone notice the low speed the jerkiness and knocking sound of the transmission

Got my TLX 2.4 Tech for almost a month(since Aug 13th), I am generally satisfied with this car, but there are some abnormal reaction of the transmission really annoyed me.
I can confirm the 8 speed DCT is a great transmission which shifting fast and smooth when you step on the gas pedal all the way down. But, I have notice some jerkiness and even knocking when driving in low speed, especially when the car hadn't been warmed up.
At the first or, second day after I brought the TLX, when I drove in normal mode and tried to stop in front of a red light, while I try to brake the engine is rev up and feels want to jump forward. Then I tried to apply the brake harder, the car did stop but with knocking sound coming from under the hood. Sounds like "Bong".
This is not happening every time when I tried to stop, but I had experience at least 20 times for the past month.

except this, I also notice when you move from Neutral to Drive, the transmission will have a sudden torque push the car forward after 1 second you made the switch then disappear within 0.5 secs.
I have a 2014 RDX AWD, it's tranny is silk smooth when switch from N to D

Hello, after driving the car for a few minutes i notice that it will start getting hot when waiting for a light. I usually pop it in neutral and rev it for a little while to get the temperature to come down. The water pump and timing belt was changed and so was the thermostat. Anyone else have this problem before? Any help is appreciated, thanks

Some turbo info

So I see you guys are looking more into the turbo now so I guess I'll post what I've found in case it is of use to anyone.

Mitsubishi is pretty tight when it comes to info about the turbo, but they sent me this. Pulled from a .pdf

I wanted compressor maps but this was the best they would give.

Our turbo had a few revisions over the years it was out. I have no idea what they were, but here are the part numbers for the interested.

List of Mitsubishi wheels that came for the TD04/HL

From what I read on Volvo/Saab/Subaru forums is that the 18T is probably the best and safest bet when upgrading the 15T/G compressor housing. We simply run out of room. Here are some reference photos.

15T(OEM)

18T

There is a 3mm difference between the 15T and 18T wheels. Its cuts it kind of close to the edge of the housing walls. The 19T is another 1mm bigger than the 18t. It'll fit but needs to be precisely worked. The effort that goes into it for a potentially 5-7hp gain just doesn't support the risks.

Here are the flow charts. The RDX should have a better efficiency range based on what Mitsubishi claims, but it still serves as a good reference to the benefits of the 18T upgrade.

About 428 CFM max

485 CFM

The 19T does flow better than a 18T but not by much.

Keep in mind those are max numbers. You can theoretically get there, but the compressed air will be very hot and cooling will be very important. (as you get further away from the center "bubble" the air gets hotter because the turbo isn't compressing air as effectively causing heat to build up.

I'll post more links n pics as I go through old photos. Hope this helps someone.

2015 TLX SH-AWD Elite or 2014 E250 Bluetec 4Matic?

Hi everyone,

I am really having a tough time making a decision here so I would appreciate your advice.

Some of you may think that I am out of my mind, trying to cross-shop between these two sedans. The truth is, I was doing the usual comparison between the TLX, 3 series, A4, IS 350 etc. and then the TLX SH-AWD Elite came out on top.... my heart was set on it, until I saw the E250 Bluetec 4Matic!!! Since it's the end of the 2014 model year for the E250, MB is offering some amazing deals. One could fairly easily get $9000 off of this $70K sedan, and then there's the 0.9% finance rate for up to 5 years! That makes the monthly payment only about $100 more than that of the TLX SH-AWD Elite for a similar 5 year term!!!

I test drove the E250 and really liked how it drove. It was smooth, quiet, rock solid and the fuel economy is amazing. Furthermore, the interior fit and finishes just oozes class and elegance. That said, the technology in the E250 is clearly behind that of the TLX SH-AWD Elite. I do also worry about the potential reliability and maintenance issues of MB, but then I have never owned one before, so I don't know if my worry is justified or not.

Given the relatively small monthly payment difference, I am just really tempted to get the E250 Bluetec 4Matic rather than the TLX! However, if I want to go with a lease, then the amazing TLX lease program right now (with 0.9% lease rate after 2% loyalty bonus, and a 60% residual for a 3 year, 20,000km/yr term) will make it much, much less expensive per month than the MB.

Am I going out of my mind? What do you think? What would YOU do here? Please help me make an informed decision! Thank you very much indeed.

AC Loud Disturbing Sound..

Over the weekend i took a drive to lake elsinore (65 miles from san diego) and all of a sudden the rpm's started to lower and lower and i started smelling somewhat burnt rubber.. then there it was.. a large screeching sound and i immediately pull to the side on the freeway and turned off the car. i knew it was the AC because i noticed that it was blowing below average cold air prior to the noise.. after pulling to the side i check it out and there is pieces of my timing belt all over the place.. not cut in half but it seems the compressor was grinding on the belt.. so best thing to do was of course turn off the air and that did the trick.. but now whenever i turn on the ac the horrible noise comes up.. i know i have to replace it but i wont have the fund until next month.. woohoo my luck and here in SD its over 90 degrees.. just wanted to ask if there is any way to release maybe the clutch that engages the ac to spin on the timing belt or something to at least make it blow air at night.. im not a ac expert.. any suggestions will help por faver.. :whyme:

Loving my 2010 RDX, need opinions

This is my third car, and all three have been Acura. My first car in high school was a 1997 Integra GS-R, next was a 1999 Acura TL, and now I have a 2010 RDX Tech & SH-AWD. I've had this for 10 months now and absolutely love it.

I was wanting to get another TL because I am a car guy and didn't want a SUV, but I work at oil rigs now and needed a SUV or truck. I wasn't looking forward to a SUV because I was looking at CRVs and others. I then saw the RDX and knew that was the SUV for me. It's pretty quick for a SUV and handles amazing thanks to the awesome SH-AWD. The AWD has already come in handy when off roading too. Some of the oil rigs have really bad dirt/mud roads and are terrible when it rains. I also love the 5.1 surround, had to go buy some DVD audio discs which I wish there were more of and easier to find because they sound great.

So now I am wanting to do some mods for my car to make it faster. My first purchase is going to be a Hondata FlashPro, a new intake, 800cc injectors, and a heatshield gasket. The FlashPro I am definitely getting and the heatshield since its cheap. If I could only get one other thing first, which would you suggest, the injectors or the intake? I most likely will get both, but just in case I can't.

My next purchase when I can will be the ETS Top Mount Intercooler. I really want this, but at $850, it will have to wait. I saw the group buy on here, and if we could do that again, I would buy it in a heartbeat at that price. I of course would like exhaust, but again, can't afford it all at one time and most likely won't be for a while. So what do yall think? Is this a good start?

Where is the best place to order these parts? I was looking at HeelToeAuto and just sent a price quote for the Flashpro, intake, injectors, and heatshield (and a separate one with the ETS intercooler as well just to see). I was wondering though if anyone had other suggestions.

For the intake, I was looking at the C-PE Xcel, or is the K&N Typhoon better?. For the C-PE it says there is a SynoilD or the DFlow filter. Which do yall prefer and what exactly are the benefits of both? For the injectors, I added the 800cc injector upgrade on HeelToe when ordering the FlashPro. Has anyone used these? In the shopping cart it shows they are Deatschwerks injectors. I don't know anything about injectors, are these a good brand and worth the $376? Also, is installing injectors very hard? Never done it before.

Thanks for all the help. I love my RDX and want to make it even better.

Hey all, lurker here in need of some advice.
I have had my beautiful 01 CL-s for about 5 years now and due to family needs, I am looking at upgrading to an 04 TL-nav this weekend. I looked through the forums but due to school(engineer), I don't have too much time to invest in research.

What are the known issues with this gen TL? What should I be looking for specific to this car when I go to check it out?

Thanks, much appreciated!

I noticed that our RDX came with tinted rear windows and I like that a lot. I would like to do the same tint for my other cars. Does anyone know what is the percentage of the tint? Thanks.
