I have an 02 TL.I bought it in 05 with 34,5K miles on it.I don't drive it to work,so it has just under 65K miles.Interior is in great shape.Exterior needs a new paint job and minor body work.Transmission has been changed once,about 4 years ago.Less than 15K miles on trans no.2.I'd like your opinion on whether I should keep it or sell it.I figure paint and body will cost about 2K to do.It would look like new if I did that,but I'd still have a 13 year old car with a known transmission issue.Belts and water pump are still original.Tires will need changing soon.Money is an issue no matter what I do.I'm leaning toward selling because of the trans issue,plus what KBB and NADA are saying about what I should be able to sell it for.I would appreciate honest opinions from you.I really like my car,but I don't want homer opinions.Thanks.

Ebony A-Spec wheel picture
Hey guys, I have a request. I am looking for any pictures of an 07-08 TL with the Ebony A-spec wheels. I have seen a lot with the gunmetal and also the black chrome which some have called ebony chrome. I cant seem to find any with specifically the ebony a-spec wheels or I cant tell if its the ebony or ebony chrome? Friends relationship is straining friendship, need advice/opinions[long read]
I have a friend, let's call her Alice. She is 21 years old as of May. Me and Alice are just friends, she is very beautiful and I care about her, but I have no interest in dating her. Out side of regular conversation and casual drinking I find her alcoholic lifestyle and her lack of motivation in life a persistent turn off.
Alice has been single for two years now.
Two months ago I tried hooking her up with a good friend of mine who's a successful college graduate. She was all about it until she found out he was Asian. No dice for her, whatever.
Flash forward to last night, I meet her and another friend of ours(f21) at a bar last night, where Alice breaks the news that she now has a boyfriend. I was pretty excited at first until she started talking about this guy.
They've been dating two weeks now and she's absolutely enthralled by this guy. Saying he's so nice to her, and buys her things, and he's really cool, etc.
Annnd he's 33 years old. Let's call him Bob. My first words were pretty rude, saying when she was born he was already in middle school..
Alice expressed some reservations about Bob, such as she would be a little bit happier if he lost 20lbs. And she hates walking around in public with him, because he absolutely looks his age and she looks like a typical girl in high school. Coupled with the fact she still has braces, they get a lot of glaring looks from strangers.
She wanted me to meet him that night and I was down for it until... I learned from her that Bob just exited from a 6 year relationship. I figured maybe bob came home and found his GF cheating on him, that's what I was expecting to hear. But what she told was litteraly "Bob came home one night, and decided he wasn't attracted to his girlfriend anymore and left it right then and there." The fact he even had the audacity to tell Alice about that bewilders me.
The manner in which Bob ended his last relationship commends no respect from me. How you can invest 6 years of you life into someone and tell them to take a hike? I feel absolutely terrible for that woman and how that must have felt for her.
That's when the asshole in me surfaced, so I excused myself and left before Bob got to the bar.
I don't like this guy already, I don't get a good feeling about the whole relationship. The fact that he's is 33 and she is 21, tells me that she is either incredibly naive, or he is incredibly immature. They are both on very different chapters of their lives and I feel she isn't ready to handle what's going on in his life. I don't know what they could possibly have in common. I feel this is nothing more than a rebound for him and I worry he would possibly dump Alice the same way he dumped is ex.
I feel they're both in this relationship for the wrong reasons. Other than sex and what slim to no hobbies they share in common, there is zero sustainability for this relationship. I don't think this guy is respectable or right for her. I do not see this relationship evolving into anything but disappointment for her.
As of now me and Alice are not talking. She texted me this morning asking why I left last night and later asked why I'm so pissed. She texted me a random picture of me and her at her birthday party, with no context. I never shared my full opinions with her. TLX base vs. Accord EXL and BMW 320i
Perhaps this sounds like a weird comparison. But I'm sure there are some people, like me, who are thinking of moving up from an Accord to a TLX for their next car. My current ride is a 2008 Accord EXL navi. It only has 70k miles, relatively new tires, and is still covered by the HondaCare for another year +. But in a year or two I'm likely to get a new car, and the TLX is on my list to consider. Also on my shopping list would be a new Accord (my wife has a 2013 Accord EXL navi that's very nice). The BMW 320i wouldn't really be on my shopping list, even though I've admired this car since I was a kid, just because the image and attitude that goes with a BMW today is not something that fits for me. But I know Acura is hoping that people cross-shop these two cars, and looking at a pricing comparison between a BMW 320i and a base TLX it's clear that the Acura is an impressive value.
It won't surprise anyone that the TLX looks like a good value compared to a Beamer, but what is maybe surprising is that the TLX even seems like a good value when the msrp is compared to an Accord EXL. In my next post I'm going to give what some might consider an over-the-top in details comparison of what you get with a TLX base compared with an Accord EXL for the price. The results surprised me anyway....

No heat regardless of setting, HCV functions, no DTCs
This has me baffled. I have an '06 Sport model, no navigation. I am not getting heat from any vent (floor, dash, window) regardless of temperature setting. So, even in "Hi" I do NOT have heat.
Here's what I've done:
-Verified heater control valve (on firewall) moves through range of motion. It operates smoothly from closed to open as the temp is set from low to high.
-Verified driver and passenger side mix control motors are turning the plastic gears through full range of motion. I did not remove the motors, but they clearly drive the gears without issue.
-Ran a DTC test and got no codes.
-Ran a sensor input test and everything makes sense. Here are the results:
In Hi (heat) mode:
Sensor 1, in-car temp: 25C
Sensor 2, ambient temp: 25C
Sensor 4, engine coolant temp: 86C
Sensor 5, evap outlet temp: 25C
Sensor 6, dri mix motor: 96% (high value indicates warm air)
Sensor 7, pass mix motor: 96%
Sensor 9, vent temp air out: 58C
In Lo (a/c on) mode:
Sensor 1, in-car temp: 25C
Sensor 2, ambient temp: 25C
Sensor 4, engine coolant temp: 86C
Sensor 5, evap outlet temp: 8C
Sensor 6, dri mix motor: 6% (low value indicates cool air)

Review of some technical features
This is a first impression assessment of some of the gadgets. It is possible that my evaluation could change after additional usage, and I would be interested in feedback from others.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Low Speed Follow (LSF) overall rating of 6
This is a great feature for long highway driving with moderate traffic. There are four distance bars, one bar (minimum) to four bars (maximum). It keeps the speed relatively smooth in relation to the car ahead when set at four bars. At one bar it is somewhat jerky when the speed of car ahead is not steady.
Even at one bar the distance to the car ahead is reasonably big and open to another vehicle merging into your lane. The ACC does not like this and will brake to regain its safe distance. Not passenger friendly!
In regular city traffic it is more of a novelty and a one bar setting would be the normal. Other vehicles will be constantly cutting into the maintained gap causing the system to brake. It works reasonably well with light traffic using a one bar setting, and it will bring the car to a compete safe stop and resume when traffic resumes.
Warning #1: if car ahead moves out of the lane, ACC takes a while to acquire the next vehicle ahead and will accelerate even if there are stopped cars ahead. Presumable it will apply serious braking but I have not waited to find out.
Warning #2: if ACC is enabled, you are not following a car, and approach stopped traffic, it does not appear to react at a reasonable point, certainly not as soon as I would expect.
Forward Collision Warning (FCW) overall rating of 10
Seems to work well.
Lane Departure Warning (LDW) overall rating of 9
Seems too work quite well. It would be nice if this worked at speeds lower than 45 mph.
Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
Have not tested it would be dangerous to do so.
Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) overall rating of 9
Very effective in helping to keep the car centered in the lane, and keeping the driver alert. It requires steering input about every 30 seconds and if not received it will turn off the system, i.e., stop keeping you in the lane. It would be better to sound an alarm or start braking before some of the other safety feature have to be used.
Blind Spot Information (BSI) overall rating of 8
The User Manual suggests that the indicator will come on when a vehicle is between 10' to the rear of the car to beside the car. It seems like an approaching vehicle on the left is closer than the 10' distance, and maybe somewhat greater on the right. However, it works well in conjunction with properly adjusted door mirrors and some reasonable driving skills. No need to turn your head to check the blind spot.
Changing lanes when the light is not on but the vehicle in the associated lane is just inches away from triggering the indicator is not a safe lane change, even if that vehicle is traveling at the same speed that you are. The Mercedes Benz system works a little differently. Changing lanes when the indicator symbol is amber is not safe (assuming that the other vehicle is not accelerating), very dangerous when amber, and the other vehicle will be hit it is red. No experience with any other make of car.
Navigation (FCW) overall rating of 7
My biggest gripe is the inability to voice enter a street name and the need to spell it out letter by letter. Once a destination has been set it works well. There are some weaknesses or missing features found in my 6-year old $100 Garmin:
- only one voice selection, the same one as my '06 3G TL
- it does not report red light cameras or fixed location photo radar
- it does not have an option to report the speed limit being exceeded (or over a set margin)
Song tagging (requires iPhone) rating 0
This feature is not available in Canada. At least one other non-luxury North American car that I known of that is sold in Canada can do this.

Siri Eyes Free
I'm curious to how well this feature work. Can you send navigation info to the system? I'm assuming you can call and text as well as some other information that Siri usually allows you to do but what about functions in the car? How well do they work? Haven't been able to find any real information on real world usage.

Looking for all-weather mats for 2015 MDX
I have the 2015 MDX. Would like to know what people are buying are for all weather floor mats especially in winter?
I purchased the WeatherTech mats with my 2011 MDX but they were expensive (over $250) and did not hold up well.
Does anyone have other suggestions for mats especially in back seat with kids?

3rd Gen Tl Replace Navigation
Hello im new to the forums. I have a 2004 tl with navi. And I hate the stock navigation I was wondering if its possible to replace the actual navigation with a 2din aftermarket. Im not a fan of the two screen. So I rather try to replace the actual screen and not the radio. Please let me know of anything and thanks in advance

How long did it take you to find "the" one?
I'm currently leasing a 2012 Chevy Volt....thankfully the lease isn't up until January 2015. I've decided to go that more frugal route with my next daily driver - which leads me on my search for a creampuff low mileage 06-08 TSX w/ Navi and 6MT.
I've been trawling Cars.com, Autotrader, and AutoTempest with no luck, but I've got time, so I'm not too worried.

RV6 Parts
So I contacted RV6 performance on the weekend asking about the 2nd Gen RL Jpipe and if they are going to make anymore. In hopes that I could convince them to let me run a group buy on it because options for our car are few and the RV6 stuff is pretty good stuff.
Anyways, didn't even get to ask about the group buy because they are currently producing 100 of them!!! Woot!
