File Management -Hard/Software

Quick question, what do you use or have heard/experience (in an enterprise environment) that is a great file management software/hardware?

I would be interested in a hardware solution that can hold 2-3Terabytes of data and be able to manage Active Directory users permissions effectively and efficiently.

Any recommendations?

Hardware:
Dell, HP, IBM etc???

Software:
Just use windows active directory to manage user security or is there some other cool software?

Thanks.

I recently got a 2007 TL. 6 weeks into getting it it rained pretty bad here in Houston and it flooded. I drove thru what I thought was a regular puddle, but ended up being pretty deep and my engine sucked up water. So now I have low compression on some of my pistons and completely lost all compression on piston #1. What year engines will fit? It's a base model 3.2

TIA!

Suspension question. Help I'm a noob lol.

What are these bolts in the engine bay? Please be easy on me, I don't know much about suspension & I'm asking because I want to learn more. I know it has Skunk2 lowering springs. (Btw these are loose and very easy to pull out, should they be this way? One last thing, why is there an H & L and an arrow on them? Is the arrow supposed to be pointing a certain way? :newbie:

Okay so I can't post attachments.. Basically they are the 2 bolts in the upper left & right of the engine bay. I know they have something to do with the suspension.

Lock confirmation beep

Has anyone else had trouble with the confirmation beep that is supposed to sound after locking the doors by remote? I press it twice and the doors lock and lights flash but there is no beep. Using the MID>Vehicle Settings>Keyless Access Setup, I have ensured that Beep and Beep Volume are set appropriately (On, High). While not a big deal, it is certainly driving me crazy!

Removing Navi Screen For Cleaning

$

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a pre-owned 2012 TL, which I love so far, but it has a weird issue I haven't seen before: there are several dark spots on the navigation screen (or, more accurately, the glass that keeps you from touching the ACTUAL screen) that I am unable to get rid of because they are somehow on the side that faces IN, toward the navi data, rather than out, towards me. And when I say spots, I don't mean breadcrumbs or anything like that; I mean actual SPOTS, like someone was drinking a soda and then sneezed on the screen, only it's on the wrong side. How easy would it be to just remove the screen/cover only, so I could clean all both sides of the glass and then put it back in, and how would I go about this? I have searched and searched for a solution to this, but can't find anything. Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Repair or go through insurance?

Hello guys,

My girlfriend needs to get some paint repair work done on her 2011 Acura TSX. There is no dent or body damage, but there are significant scrapes on the right side of her rear bumper and a small scrape on the lower right of her trunk.

The bumper has some small areas where metal is showing, and the trunk scrape is barely (if at all) felt by the fingernail.

She was quoted at over $1100 from one franchise-type body shop and I thought the price was a bit ridiculous, but I am not experienced with body shop pricing. I am going to attempt to get some more quotes throughout the week (it is tough due to us both working)... but...

Does this seem reasonable to you guys? I attached the pictures to this thread. If it is anything over $600 I am assuming it would be best for her to through insurance? For those who have went through insurance for such repairs, did you premium go up a lot?

Thank you.

ipad install write up need help with finishing touches

so ive embarked on the ever elusive iPad install.

The problem i have run into is that i need to relocate my hvac controls. I was planning on taking out the bottom two pockets and installing there. The only problem i see is that our stock hvac controls are very large. Has anyone else ever successfully relocated the hvac controls.

for those who are curious i will include my progress below.

i will being with saying i have no experience in custom dashes, fiberglass work, or any body work.

my idea was i wanted a an iPad mini mount that would allow me to remove the iPad. I have seen the iPad mini float mount but at 250$ it was $50 more expensive than the iPad mini itself. I continued searching and found fifield fabrications they have 9 different mounts or the mini. I Went with the the MINI-m kit and 58$ the price was right.

Click the image to open in full size.

this is the only picture i have of the mount before tearing it to bits.

next thing i found was a used non navi information screen. went on ebay and found one with a busted screen for $30. Win. I then started cutting away. My first thought was to skip the mount and just cut a hole for the iPad. but it looked bad you could see how unsteady my hand was at cutting hole for the iPad. and two i could not be able to remove it.
so i began cutting the mount

Click the image to open in full size.

i kept cutting until i made the frame as small as possible while still retaining its shape.

Click the image to open in full size.

then i had to enlarge the whole in the center console to fit the mount. i chose to keep the extra hvac buttons in place as to provide rigidity to the frame. it felt flimsy without and i was about to have away all the supports. so far i think it was the right choice to make.

Click the image to open in full size.

i then started melting the mount to the frame as i saw james fifield do in an install video of his. the only word of caution i will make is if you attempt this do not melt the top and bottom to the frame as it seems to warp the original frame. i only ended up doing the sides after catching my mistake. i also used the plastic leftovers which i had cut off to fill the edges the borders that did not touch the frame.
Click the image to open in full size.

after that i sanded down the whole thing with 100 grit sandpaper which is the coarsest i had at the moment. but body shop buffs can step in say what would be more appropriate to use. after sanding i applied my first layer of body filler.

Click the image to open in full size.

after drying and sanding i applied another coat of body filler
Click the image to open in full size.

i let dry sanded and have applied primer .

Click the image to open in full size.

i will continue with another layer of filler. i think what i have to do to make the install clean is fill the top border and then cut the channel in again. i just don't have a steady hand and am dreading it. if you guys have any suggestions on how to make this better please let me know.
thanks
Daniel

tlx Speaker sizes?

For those that already own the tlx. Does anyone know what the tlx speaker sizes are for the base model? I Pre-ordered mine, but i'm trying to buy things ahead of time for my audio build.

Audio shuts off 2 minutes after code put in...

I replaced my alternator 3 weeks ago. I called the dealership and got the audio code (55352) and everything worked great for like a week. Then because my alternator failed, my battery was damaged. So I replaced the battery and again put in the same code. It turns the audio on and is full functioning for about 2 minutes and then everything shuts off again.
I go through the whole process (hold 1 & 6 down, turn the radio on, wait for the codes and then enter in 55352) everything comes back on again. Then 2 minutes later, everything shuts off!!

I can do this all day long and the code works every time but shuts off 2 minutes later. The dealership was no help and they want $90 just to diagnose it!
Anyone have any suggestions??

We have already disconnected the battery for half an hour and tried it again. Still does it.

Please help!

Why They Hate Us (Reason #1076): Starbucks Pay It Forward

$

Because there is no selfless act of random kindness; like feeling coerced into buying a $6 venti-mocha-frap for the accountant in the Beamer behind you.

If we keep this up, we could solve all the world's upscale coffee deficiencies.

Quote:

tampabay.com/more-than-250-have-paid-it-forward-at-local-starbucks

ST. PETERSBURG — The acts of kindness began at 7 a.m. Wednesday with a woman, her iced coffee and a stranger's caramel macchiato. The woman paid for her own drink, then asked to pay for the drink of the person behind her in the drive-through. That person returned the favor and paid for the person behind, and so did that person, until the employees at the St. Petersburg Starbucks on Tyrone Boulevard began a tally on green laminated paper near the drive-through window.

By 1:30 p.m., the chain had reached 260 customers. People ordered a drink at the speaker. When they pulled through to the next window, the barista, Vu Nguyen, 29, leaned through and said with a smile that their drinks had already been paid for by the person in front of them. Would they like to return the favor?

"It makes your day better, I think," said Lexie Kane, 17, of St. Petersburg, who ordered an iced coffee. Tim Burnside, 19, had visited in the morning and paid it forward. He returned later to see whether it was still going on. Seeing that it was, he ordered a second chai tea. "It's nice just to do a random act of kindness for someone you don't know," said Burnside, also of St. Petersburg. Some said the simple act connected them to all of the others in line before them. Others said they didn't want to be the jerk to end it.

The baristas inside began to think of what they might do if it lasted until 10 p.m., when the Starbucks closed. Perhaps they could put the final amount on a gift card and continue the next day? They tallied 378 people by early evening.

Then at 6 p.m., customer No. 379 — a woman in a white Jeep Commander — pulled into the drive-through and ordered a regular coffee. Nguyen leaned out the window. He told her about the chain that had begun that morning. Would she like to participate? The woman declined, saying she just wanted to pay for her $2.25 drink and not someone else's.

Nguyen said it appeared the woman didn't understand the concept of paying it forward.

Considering A Used 2009 RL...HELP

http://www.goodsonacura.com/used-Dal...KB26569C000130

I stumbled across this used 2009 RL (and it just so happens to be at my local dealer where I service my ZDX). I wasn't considering a second vehicle before, but this is rather tempting. Before I even waste my time and schedule a test drive, I need some advice. In the past all of my cars have been purchased new or used (with no more than 36,000 miles).

I am kind of skeptical of purchasing a car with such high mileage. It seems like all scheduled service has been done at the dealer and it is a one owner vehicle that was driven about 17,000 miles per year. What type of major service due should I expect on a car with 103,000 miles (in the past I've changed cars every 3 years or so and have never had one with that many miles). But I do know that Acura is known for reliability and a high mileage well maintained RL can last awhile.

This would primarily be my commuter car which eventually the high mileage wouldn't be a problem since I commute less than 5 miles one way and would probably put about 3000 miles a year on it. If I decide to pull the trigger, my ZDX would then be used for evenings, weekends, and when I take long road trips. Yes I would be financing the RL and not paying cash...another reason why I'm so skeptical of buying a 5 year old car with such high mileage. Any advice...HELP!

HFL Observation

First let me state that I haven't done much with the HFL stuff, so if this has already been discussed, sorry

I got one of the cheap LG L34C smartphones for use on Straighttalk. When I tried to receive text messages, it seemed to be intermittent. After checking some more it seems that if the text message contains emoticons that it causes the system to stop receiving new text messages until the power is removed. Not sure if the software knows how to interpret the emoticons and then it seems to get hung up trying to figure it out

Anybody know more about this?

AFS and disconnecting the battery...

$

I removed the battery to install new hid bulbs. When I used the lights for the first time I noticed the right light didn't turn right when I started the car with the lights on. I then turned the steering to the right and the right light didn't turn. I drove a few miles and then turned right into a parking lot. The light turned. I then turned left out of the parking lot and the drivers light turned left!? The lights have never turned left before. I thought they didn't because it blinded oncoming drivers. I then pulled into a parking lot and turned the wheel back and forth. Sure enough the lights followed the turns in both directions?!

So is the AFS calibrating itself because the battery was disconnected? Is there something I should be doing to calibrate it properly?

I searched before posting this and didn't find anything except how to program a newly installed AFS unit.
