Have any of these issues happened to your TL?

I have to start by saying I am not handy with cars in the least. As a result, I have someone else work on my car.

That being said, I went to the dealership today for regular maintenance. I was shocked at the number of things they wanted to fix.

I have a 2007 TL with 59,000 miles on it. This is what they wanted to fix. I wouldn't think a car with only 59K miles on it would need all of this:

Intermediate shaft leaking ($597)
Front motor mount collapsed ($513)
Right side engine mount worn ($245)
Hood struts failed ($230)

I have owned several cars past 59K miles and never encountered any of these thing.

Has anyone else encountered these things with their TL? If so, how much did it cost? There are some other places on Folsom that fix Acuras, so I don't have to go through a dealership.

At this point, I may just get rid of this car and get something else.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I'm considering buying coilovers for my ILX 6MT, and was considering these:
http://ksportusa.com/b2c/proddetail.php?prod=CAC130-KP

Has anyone here installed these on their ILX yet, and what good/bad things can you say about them. Or even if you installed Ksport coilovers on a different car, how would you rate them?

White TLX colour mismatch...!

I went to see the TLX at another local dealership today. I saw a white TLX with the body kit, spoiler and diamond cut wheels. I don't think that the body kit was necessary but overall it did look nice! The diamond cut wheels were actually better looking in person than in photos - it seems that Acura likes to design things which are not that photogenic!!! LOL!

I do have to point out though, that the colour mismatch between the body and the bumper is subtle but certainly present. To make things worse, there is yet another slight mismatch between the bumper and the body kit!!! Ouch.... take a look below... I should have taken some close-up photos to show you the mismatch:

I think that without the body kit, the colour mismatch probably would not be as obvious. However, it was a bit noticeable with the body kit on.... ouch. Still, overall, the car looks nice. Oh, and in the white colour, the rear end looks nice. Much nicer than the rear end of the blue TLX.

P.S. Weather, hope you like these white TLX pics! LOL

Is there any tips or advice or gee wiz type things anyone can offer me while I go through the buying process.

Thanks all, and thanks for having me!

When calculating the residual on the lease, is it based on the MSRP or the negotiated price?

Vleds vs. Sylvania LED's

Hey all just wanted to get opinions on some interior LEDs for my TL. I bought some cheap EBay ones and am really not happy with them as they are more blue than the white OEM look I wanted. So which should I buy to get a pure white LED appearance? I have heard that the Vled 5k ones would be good, but also heard that the Sylvania LED's are the way to go for that true OEM look. Both pretty much cost the same so which would you guys choose? Pics would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

After all the mods and all the debt

I liked my 02 TL type S! It drove fast and handled okay. All the n.a mods and 2 trannys later, I'd say it was a good investment. No amount of mods would help it beat fast cars on the top end. It only ever hit one thirty once, on a closed course of course:rolleyes: It had a great run, got me to school and back 2 towns over. I finally got a fast car! A Shelby gt500 convertible!
after purchasing, that vtec felt like nothing more than a loud noise, it no longer brought the rush it once did. I sold it for half of what I paid for it back in 08 at 195k miles. I found myself getting 18mpg city driving anyway, so what's the point of keeping another registration fee, and insurance bill? Now I look like a ballur everywhere I drive, and I am careful everywhere I park. It's not a car you can drive with any inhibitors in your system so I drink solely at home. It has made me a more careful grownup who has to keep a job, and be nice to people to facilitate that.:yuck: I now have my dream car, and my acura helped get me there. It was a good value, a fun sedan, and now it's someone else's. Y'all take care and keep on driving.

Difference between vleds and iJDMToy Switchback bulbs

$

Hello,

I am considering changing the switchbacks to LEDS and would like to have the white bulb that changes to amber when flashing.

I am hesitating between these :

http://www.vleds.com/shop-bulb-numbe...57-1-pair.html

and these :

http://store.ijdmtoy.com/BAY15d-2357...s-p/20-371.htm

I am wondering why the vleds are twice as much money for what looks like a 42 leds bulb vs a 60 leds bulb. Am I missing something ?

Also, does any one know if in areas where DRLs are mandatory, the switchbacks could be considered DRLs ? I figure that with the switchbacks in place, I could simply pull the fuse out of the DRLs and use the switchbacks as DRLs.

Thanks

NSX is really coming back!

Engine coolant reservoir is empty

Hello everybody.

After 3 days of not driving my 2006 Acura TL auto, I noticed that engine coolant reservoir is empty. Is this normal?

Last time I took my car to mechanic, he said he didn't see any leaks.

Thanks!

Test drive some cars today...and a TLX V6...

My wife is getting more and more ready for a new car so today we did some intensive car shopping...we test drove the Infiniti Q50 Sport AWD, the Lexus IS350 F-Sport, a wild card SUV option, the Cadillac SRX, and an Acura TLX V6 Advance.

We actually ended up back to the Lexus dealer later on and we drove the Lexus GS 350 as well and we may end up getting this last one...an awesome car and terrific deals to be had.

Ok let me immediately get to the point.....is Acura serious?? Did they do any sort of benchmarking on their supposed competition before coming out with this turd on wheels?? Is their head so much up their behind these days?? What are they smoking?? I'm sorry for the harsh language but my initial impression on the car has been definitely reinforced after driving it today.

Let me repeat, word by word, some of the comments of my wife, which is not too much or a car type, as we were driving it.

"hmm it looks a bit cheesy inside...a bit cheap"....after a while, "it's kind of a step down from you car"......

The salesperson ask us what other cars we were considering so we told him....the first thing out of his mouth was that the TLX was costing few thousands of dollars less than these cars....sure I said to myself...these cars worth thousands more than this thing and you can see it right away....for what it is this car is actually expensive.

In one word....underwhelming.

The only saving grace is the somewhat more modern design of the dash compared to the 4G TL......but the wood look a bit fake.

You get the immediate feel that the TLX is a step down from the TL, it feels less substantial.....the panel doors are less elaborate, the doors do not close with the same "thud", the plastic is a bit shinier.

Stomp on the gas and you get one second of boy racer wheel spinning with the car still even with the traction control on, a Nissa Maxima behaves much better than this at launch....another Acura half assed decision is not making the SH-AWD version readily available at launch....you know they are the smart ones....

Does Acura really think that this thing is even remotely in the same cleague as the IS and Q50?? these 2 cars are not in an other class but on an other planet

I repeat, this car may compete with a nice optioned Malibu turbo at most...I repeat a Malibu.....A Buick Regal GS IMHO is ahead and not by a little.

Both the Infiniti and the Lexus "wrap around you" so to speak as you drive them....precise, superb handling, top notch fit and finish, light years ahead.

When I got my TL SH-AWD 6MT it was a terrific value proposition...getting a car as big as a 535i xDrive even sportier in feel and as capable performance wise for 45K sticker instead of over 60K.......a very distinctive look, ok some hate it but at least it was different, nobody can deny that.

This car is so bland, boring and derivative on the outside, rather ordinary on the inside and definitely ordinary in dynamic traits (my driving experience)...I'm not even sure it's a step up from a regular midsize sedan nowadays.....there are few non premium midsize family haulers that I would pick before this.....the Fusion, the Optima and maybe even the Altima.

It's hard for me to understand how a 4G TL owner could trade his/her car for this...I think my TL deserve an extra hand wash and wax treatment this week....

...and before the usual 4G haters chime in saying that I could be a typical 4G owner trying to feel good about my car go back and read the message...I'm putting my money where my mouth is......my 4G TL was the first and last Acura I will ever own, Infiniti or Lexus is going to get my money next....

I will soon let you know what we decided.

I wish all the best to Acura but I have the feeling that this car is not going to seel too well...unless they discount it heavily and/or target regular midsize sedan buyers, I hope for them to be dead wrong...but I really cannot see how someone interested in a BMW 3er an IS or an Infiniti Q may look at a TLX...

I purchased this kit about a month ago. I'm selling the car, so this kit is no longer needed. Obviously all brand new and still have the shipping boxes.

I was going to modify (simple modification) the Base front to fit my 08 TL-S as the Type S front lip is too aggressive (nice way to put it) for me.

Located in San Diego, CA. Will ship, but I know it won't be cheap. Lol.

Here are the part numbers:

07-'08 TL Type-S
08F03-SEP-210B REAR NH603P WHITE DIAMOND PEARL

Extended warranties

I haven't seen much talk of these. Since I haven't been in the market in about 11 years, is anybody getting these? Do they still deal on the cost of the warranties or is it basically a "one price for everybody thing from Honda/Acura" thing? I was going to not get an extended warranty this time around, but am considering it now when you consider the new transmissions and more gadgetry which, I assume, would be covered by the warranty (?).

requesting electrician to solve clock light issue

many many people are complaining of the same exact issue with the clock light. It goes on and off and comes back on with a good slap. this shows that nothing is really broken there is just something making a bad connection.

can someone with electrical knowledge and experience find out what is causing the problem? Im sure some one can find out if it is the wiring harness or pins in the unit where the harness attaches to.

I have done alot of reading i have not read a real fix or diagnosis to the issue. I have use an electronics lubricant and that helped but only for so long. After reading I have also found that no one is having any other types of problems with the clock display, such a faulty pixels.

I am going to take a look at the service manual and try to find a wiring diagram to pitch in my :2cents: since i have no idea how to interpret them

So I'm going to see the dealer this weekend. Wondering what color schemes you guys like most?

Was considering black/black and blue/black. I'm leaning towards the blue/black though.

I like the black leather interior looks sick when you keep it clean.

Having trouble making DVD-A, what am i doing wrong?

Hey guys,

I downloaded Adobemans DVDA GUI from his website. Installed the software and read the instructions. Just to try it out, I added 4 or 5 mp3s and hit "made dvda". It does its thing and asks me if I want to save, I decline and then it creates the ISO image of the songs, I just left it named "untitled"

I then open up Nero and go to the "DVD (ISO)" button and add the untitled ISO file that Adobemans software made. I hit burn and it burns for a couple minutes and spits out the DVD saying it was burned successfully. I put it in my TL and it loads for a few seconds then says "format". So it doesn't work.

I'm using memorex DVD-R 16x 4.7gb dvds.

I also tried using power2go and tried burning the ISO file and it burned much faster, like 45 seconds. I put it in my car and this time it doesn't say format but it never plays anything. I can change tracks, which go on forever even if I only had like 4 or 5 songs but nothing plays.

What am I doing wrong, I read the instructions and I'm doing it to a T but its not working.

Please help!

PS. I'm getting low on dvds so I could really use the help.
