Advice on Interior Colors

I'm looking for a new car and the RDX is high up on my list. I've been lurking here for a while and I'm looking for some feedback on the different interior colors. My last 2 vehicles have been 01 and 09 MDXs, both black on black. I'm looking to go with a different exterior color, really like the Fathom Blue. My hesitation is that the interior is really light. I plan on keeping the car for a while, probably 8+ yrs so I'm worried how it will hold up. I love the black interior on my MDX, easy to clean and I don't have to worry about marking it up.

The base model comes with the black interior but the advanced (which is what i want) only comes in grey. I get that Acura wants to save money by limiting the color combos but this just seems silly to me. Anyway, any feedback from anyone who has the light interior as far as keeping it clean, staining from jeans and leather belts and how you think it will hold up over time is appreciated.

Ive been on this forum 1000 times getting helpful info from all of the people here with help regarding my 2002 TL and I have much respect for all of the members on here. My father got me interested in Acuras with his 05 TL and since his passing I have acquired mine and have done every bit of work on it to this day & its alot that has been done. Im 49 going on 21 and live each day like its my last cause tomorrow isnt guaranteed for anyone. My car is a 2002 Acura TL with custom door panels for the stereo I have built into it, suede & leather upholstery throughout the car all hand done by me, I have a 10" touchscreen Soundstream deck, all interior speakers are Soundstream and in the trunk I have a 15" Skar Audio sub with 2 10" skar subs as well. I have 18" custom hydrodipped chrome and copper rims on it with an air ride system about to go in it also with 4 corner independent control of it as well. The exhaust has had the dual back mufflers deleted and now exits straight out through the middle of the back bumper with 21" angled exhaust tips. In the front I replaced the front bumper with a 2000 bumper modified for the 2002 headlights which have been modded as well. They now have 2 sets of projectors on each side with dual angel eyes at the low beam and a single around the high beam. The body has 199000 miles on it and the motor.....well thats my biggest issue right now as coming to work last week i went to slow down and next thing i know i heard a loud rattle and clinging in the topside of the motor. I nursed it to work and had no smoke come out thankfully so it isnt blown. Being a family man with kids the wife and I weighed our options out and decided since it aint blown I would do a complete rebuild of the motor now. I ordered the master engine rebuild kit with .020 oversized pistons, crankshaft and seal bearings and im in the process of pulling the motor now to send to a machine shop to be bored and have them turn the crank and set the pistons in so i can put the rest back in, then back up and running. During the motor rebuild time we are going to get the air ride installed and the custom paint job done on the car. When sshe comes back out she will be terrorizing the muscle cars in this area once again in true 4 door TL fashion.

how noisy is your car? post your model and numbers

I use an app on my phone called Decibel X that measures noise level in dB. A quiet home is in the 40's.

I have a Tech AWD.

Engine started but car not moving -- upper 60's to 70's.
Smooth roads -- 70's to low 80's
Bad roads and highway speeds -- low 90's

FWIW, the quietest cars are in the mid 60's at highway speed, so the RDX is about 1000x louder than those.

Pebble Beach Unveiling?

Maybe I misread the articles, but wasn't Acura supposed to unveil their "new" car at Pebble Beach, last week?

The U.S. Open just finished, played in Pebble Beach, which I had assumed to be the event for the unveiling. Here is 1 article:

hello all this is my first post so be nice

my MDX was completely fine I'm more then moderate on fixing my acura. I do all my own work and services on my vehiclea. however I came to a wall here. my ignition switch was going bad and would randomly turn off on road and with a minor flick of the key the engine would be back on and I can press the gas and go. but now it was getting worse so I bought a Import Direct Ignition Lock And Cylinder Switch Part #: 18-0787 Line: IDI from OREILLYS. not the best but it will do for me as of now, so I took all the proper steps to take apart my cylinder and housing unit with the old ignition switch and replace with new one and all the works it came with. AND NOW the dam engine wont start after I connected everything back ( battery and plugs etc) I looked up everything possible to what the issue is and I can't find a answer. what gives the engine cranks and I have a new battery installed and no turn! the truck started flawless before I changed the entire ignition switch and cylinder and have new keys with it. the relay is still good as I pulled that out to check and all the wires and harness are connected

any one please give all advice I'm in need to fix this fast. I HAVE A 2002 MDX

Just noticed on the Acura.ca site that Performance Red Pearl is now only available on the A-Spec trim and was wondering if anyone knows what other changes were made for the Canadian RDX for 2020 as there's no news on their site about what's changed.

Gabbs Los Acura CL type S

About three to four months ago I purchased this 2001 Acura CL type S 3.2 VTech. The car does have AC. heat. power steering, all work. Is OBD2. Car ran very well for that time. after a while I started knowing noticing the engine was screaming at me. so as soon as that started happening, i opened up the oil input and put my finger in their to touch Cam and a valve. I immediately noticed it was very dry and my dipstick was also reading a third higher than it should be after a fresh oil change. Came to the conclusion that the oil pump was failing and I had to change it myself. I didnt have a job at the moment so I had to do it myself. couldn't afford a $500 of labor for a mechanic and the 200 oil pump. now I'll go ahead and say that I'm a fairly decent mechanic good with my hands. but I will not say that I am ASE qualified by long shot did take auto mechanics in high school. only reason I didn't get certified is cuz I got kicked out of school my senior year. That being said I took on the job myself with a Little help from my brother-in-law and my uncle and after 5 days of frustration and beating up my hands i got it. in time I might add. (Pretty proud that I got it in time the first time considering it was my first time ever timing a vehicle. Especially dual overhead cams) i took it to an ase-certified mechanic that I know very well. Does All the cars for the women in my family. After up good letting it heat up and run under full pressure. he said that I did a very good job and it sounded very well and from there I proceeded to install a performance chip for the OBD2. With my mechanic right there and get you to verify that 3.2 VTEC engine is more than capable of handling this performance chip of 30% horsepower and 25% torque increase. I did that job on a Friday. Ran it for the weekend Sunday morning about 5 to 7 miles away from the house threw a rod into the street. So any advice constructive criticism is welcome. Just trying to get and idea of what went wrong.

2015 TLX Music Search

I’m brand new here and this is my first post. I had a question about the Bluetooth on my base 2015 TLX. When I’m playing music with Bluetooth and not the “iPod” connection, I can’t do a music search? Nothing pulls up except for my iPhones name? Is this supposed to happen? I looked at a base 2016 TLX and it pulled up and I was able to search for music in the Bluetooth function. Can someone advise if this is normal operation or not?

Front end clunk noise when goes over pothole or bump

hi all,
My TL is getting close to 86K miles and I've noticed clunk when it goes over pothole or bump.
The clunk noise comes from front passenger side.
The strut and spring look ok... no rust..
They don't bounce much when i do the fender push down test...
Is it possibly the stabilizer bar??
The TL has really stiff suspension and this can wears out the stabilizer bar fast...
Has anyone have similar problem?
Thanks.

Thinking of getting a hybrid.
My wife has a 2018 Subaru outback limited that has an option to show her speed in a digital format and next to it is the posted speed limit. I think it gets the speed limit info from the Gps.

Does Acura have this capability ?

I have this constant noise coming from my front right wheel that occurs while I'm driving and the wheel spins and it goes away as I brake and come to a stop. I recorded the noise and attached. Any idea what this could be? I went to my local mechanic and he said that it was my emergency brake but that wasn't it.

Hi everyone! I've been on the forum for years reading different threads and viewing galleries but I decided to make an account now. My first car was 2003 TL I had for like 5 years that I was slowly working on but unfortunately had to get rid off due to a personal situation. Two years ago I bought a 2010 TL SH AWD and I'm loving it! Have a few mods done so far and more to come. :toocool:
