My CL transmission is messed up so I bought an Accord transmission. Reason taking apart is to switch LSD diff. Question is do you have to take off all the sensors including the strainer on the tranny in order to seperate the housing to get to the gears.

Hey everyone, I hope you are having a great day. I'm getting rid of my TL and these are some parts I got a while back but never got around to putting on the car. All these parts I bought used but have not used myself. I am located in New Hyde Park, NY (Long Island) and would definitely prefer cash and local pickup. But if you want, we could definitely arrange some sort of shipping. Just shoot me a PM on here if you are interested in anything and I'll get back to you asap. If you have any questions or want additional pictures of any of the items feel free to ask and I'll send them no problem. Thank you for checking out my listing:thumbsup:

2007 Acura TL Type S 171k miles

What's up guys... new to Acura's so I have a question.. I'm looking at an 07' TL Type S with 171k miles. It has a clean carfax 1 owner, though it's being sold from a dealership so I don't have any records for it. But the carfax does show pretty much every oil change done between 5-8k miles at an Acura dealer since new. Timing belt and water pump were done at 95k miles at an Acura dealership too. I test drove it, it seemed just fine. No rattles, no weird noises, no leaks. The only thing I noticed was a slight vibration with the cold start, but was gone once the car warmed up. And the driver mirror wasn't a fan of being moved when I put it in reverse (the mirror popped and seemed like it was caught up but eventually moved down). Other than that, it was in near perfect cosmetic shape.

I'm just concerned about the miles. I know these cars can run 250k+ easy, but I've also heard the transmissions aren't that great (5 speed auto). The dealership is firm at $6k, which seems like a steal compared to other Type S's being sold. I can't find one within 500 miles of me (DFW, TX) under 150k miles. Most are 180k miles and dealerships or even individuals are asking $7500+.

What do you think? Should I pull the trigger? It's going to be a 2nd car to go along with my F150.

Thanks!

Just replaced starter and now my car doesn’t crank up as well.

Hey guys I’m new to posting, I use this site often to help diagnose some of the issues with my TL. I have 2005 Acura TL. My starter just went bad about a week ago and after getting my new one in I feel like my start up sounds a little sketchier. Any ideas on what this could be?

Secondary Information Area Question

Hello, I've recently purchased a 2019 RDX w/ Advance Package, and so far, I am loving the vehicle.

I had a quick question about rearranging the order of Secondary Information Area "cards", as the RDX manual calls it.
(The smaller screen on the right)

I believe the factory setting ordered as

"Now Playing Audio"
then
"Navigation"
then
"Clock"

Every time I turn on the vehicle, the secondary information always starts with "Now Playing Audio",
But I would like it to always start in "Clock".

Page 252 and 253 of the manual only shows you how to cycle through it, not how to rearrange the order...

If it is impossible to reorder, I just want the "Clock" to be the first one that shows up in the Secondary Information Area when I turn on the car.

Any response and advice will be greatly appreciated!

What is normal pressure in air conditioning?

Obviously I talk about low side. I just read 35 psi at temperature 85 F. Gauge said it is normal range but some table said at that temperature should be at 45-50 psi? Another table said it is normal again. So how much one can of r134a 12 oz (smaller one) add pressure to Acura system? To me look as system is working properly. Maybe can be better with one more can?

Thinking of used ZDX - is IDS worth it?

Hi all!

I'm thinking of getting a used ZDX. I haven't been able to find a ZDX with an advanced package with IDS near me to test drive so I don't know if it's worth it. To folks who have driven both tech and advance models with IDS, is the IDS system worth it? How do the comfort and sport modes compare to the regular ZDX strut?

Can this feeling be observed in new or old MDX models with IDS?

Thanks!

Sold my '06TL a while back and moved up to a '15 RDX... found this gem in my miscellaneous box of things. If I recall correctly, it was pretty straight forward to install. Not sure if it fits other Acura models.

2012 TL Tech, issue with display brightness during night time

$

I tried to look around to see if anyone has the same issue, but didnt find anything similar to the problem I'm having. It's the navigation display brightness during night time, when headlight switch is on Auto and/or On.
During daytime, if I turn the headlight to ON, display will still be bright (as it detects bright light?), which is understandable. Cluster display (the little display in the odometer cluster) will automatically adjust its brightness depending on the outside brightness (it dims when I go through tunnels, and brightens up when outside again). The main display (nav unit) remains on bright throughout. This, I dont have a problem with it.

However, when it's night time, odometer cluster remains dim the whole time while main display would randomly turn to bright (as if it's during daytime) for a quick second or two or three, sometimes it would stay bright until I adjust it with the brightness button that has 3 modes (bright, dim, and off). Even after the adjustment, the problem occurs again. I got frustrated and just turn it off (thank god it stays OFF). It only occurs at night-time, regardless if Map is active or wallpaper screen is shown. I tried reset all settings to defaults, both from the Navigation and odometer cluster. Problem still exists.

I included the youtube video I extracted from my dashcam, maybe someone can look at it and tell me what I need to do to fix this problem?

Thank you all in advance,
RD

  • 2005 Acura TL purchased on 11/4/2004.
  • Less than 124,000 miles. For a period of 3 years, I only drove 5 miles per day
  • First owner.
  • non-smoker
  • 6 speed manual transmission (stick)
  • no navigation.
  • timing belt changed at 101k miles
  • Selling because I bought a new car.
  • Mechanically sound, but these are the known issues:
    • bluetooth not working. youtube bluetooth battery drain Acura TL. I disconnected the bluetooth.
    • dash is cracked from sun damage
    • front bumper has minor damage
    • all four door mission door handle cover because they all fell off.
    • been in a few minor accidents.
    • cup holder cover broken
    • Overall, the car is almost 15 years old so normal wear and tear is visible.

I have may have the Tein SS coilovers somewhere. Also I have hardwired valentine one installed.

Taking it to carmax tomorrow morning so if you're interested, contact me asap.

Oil change based on time (vs MM status)

Hi there. I'm sure this question will get a ton of debate - but here goes.... :-)

The wife's 2018 RLX Sport Hybrid was built in Dec 2017. It was mostly moved around the dealer's lot from early 2018 until Nov 2018, until it was put into use as a loaner. From Nov 2018 till March 2019 it had about 1200 miles put on it - lightly used loaner. We took delivery in early April, and as of today the mileage is now at 3k. The maintenance minder (MM) just clicked down to 70% life remaining. It has used zero oil from that factory fill.

Normally with my Honda/Acuras I change the oil when it hits 30% remaining, which is usually 6-7k miles. Yea, it's more frequent than required, but I try to stay ahead of it. The timeframe is usually 7-8 months for that given our typical usage.

In the case of the wife's RLX, the oil has been in the crankcase for about 18 months at this point, with some obvious frequent start/stops in its early life, and more consistent usage now. My concern with the oil is the time it's been in the crankcase and possible external contaminants from lack of us early in it's life. I've been tempted to do a change now and just remove that risk - espeically considering there's nothing such as a "break in oil" from the factory like it was years ago.
Thoughts?

thanks - andy

Navigation or not?

Hello,
I am new to this forum but it looks like it has lots of great information. I purchased a 05 TL auto back at the end of March and I've been in love with it since then. I wanted a 6 speed except all of the manuals in my area were whipped. The only strange thing I've been curious about is it has the base model stereo and climate control. When I do a VIN lookup, the car is supposed to have to navi screen. I haven't taken apart the dash to see if it's been tampered with yet, but I was wondering if there are other details to see if it is supposed to be a navigation model. I haven't been able to find anyone else having this problem before. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If this is a real navi model I'd love to buy a used screen and put it in. I know this is a pretty small detail of the car, but it's always the small details that keep me up at night.
Thank you for taking your time to read this.
Best,
Ian

So I went to change the passenger headlight bulb and the lights are still not working. Could it be a wiring problem? If so best way to fix it.
