Is the side mirror supposed to tilt down when in reverse? I tried switching from the left right and middle adjustment and the mirrors don't tilt down. I thought I saw this was a feature. If so, any ideas on a fix?
What's the best steering wheel control kit for the 2011 TL non-NAV? I'll be replacing the factory head unit with aftermarket in the near future. Volume is all I really care about, but it would be nice to be able to skip forward/backward as well.
Used replacement Takeda intake filter and filter cleaning kit. I bought the extra filter to avoid the downtime when my original needed to be cleaned. It was great to simply remove the dirty and replace with the clean, rather than having to wait until the cleaned one was dry to re-install.
After purchasing my 2019 Acura RDX I quickly noticed that the left rear tail light does not align between the trunk and the body of the car despite alignment on the right side of car. I have now serviced the car twice at dealerships other than where I purchased the vehicle. In both cases, the managers acknowledged that it was not aligned, but took no responsibility for fixing it. One even went as far as to recommend taking it to a third party body shop as "our mechanics do not do this kind of stuff."
I am now planning to take the car back to the place of purchase, but I was hoping to get some feedback on best approaches as this seems unacceptable for a $40K+ vehicle.
So I was traveling home last night and the car immediately in front of me swerves away, and right in front of me with no time to react is a deer carcass. My only instinct is to straddle it between the tires. BOOM. I didn't feel anything but it was definitely a fairly loud impact. I was able to drive home (another 20 minutes) no issues whatsoever, but this morning I see giant clumps of hair in two locations under the car, one on a pipe near the front two wheels, another giant clump toward the rear of the vehicle. I took it to local car cash and it isn't coming out.
What possible damage could have been done? I've got a firestone appointment today at 5pm for a 'vehicle inspection', but so far everything seems...ok?...
After almost 5 months and 6,000 miles, I find that I don't like the blind spot lights inside. I don't find them as easy to see (as the ones in the mirror glass) when making a quick lane change, and they seem to get washed out when in direct sun. Also, I don't think they are as bright as others I have had for years.
It seems odd that Acura felt the need to put the infotainment screen where it wouldn't take the driver's eyes off the road as much as a lower touch screen type, yet placing the BSI light inside was OK? I bet 99% of all cars with this system have the indicators on the mirror glass. Maybe it's just me, but this habit, (looking at the outside mirror, then at the BSI light inside) seems harder to change. I'm sure I will get used to it, but prefer them in the mirror glass itself.
Other than the missing Android Auto, so far, this is my only minor gripe. I am VERY happy with this purchase.
Occasionally, I will use the driver's door to manually lock the doors of the RDX with the physical key. This results in all four doors being locked and unable to be opened despite the keyfob being in the proximity, as intended. However, the trunk opens normally by pressing the button! Why doesn't the trunk manually lock as well? Does this happen on anyone else? I am wondering if this is a glitch, safety feature, or what!

I've had my RLX Hybrid for about 2 and a half years now (34.5k miles) and driving the vehicle has been wonderful except for a few issues that the dealership has been unable to fix. The first is the LKAS system. I had a '14 MDX with LKAS and drove a '19 TLX and they both have a better LKAS system then the one in the RLX. Does anyone know why this is? It's almost like the corrective force is too weak.
Second issue - About once a week I see a message when I start the car saying that the navigation system has lost power, etc. The dealership has made many attempts to fix the issue - tightened all battery connections, replaced the battery, performed a software update, even replaced the ENTIRE navi unit yet the issue still persists. Has anyone seen this before?
Third issue (and probably the most concerning of all) - about 25% of the time, the car makes a "grrrrrr" wooshing/grinding noise when coming out of any turn at normal speeds. This issue, of course, was not present when I bought the car brand new and the issue seems to be getting worse over time. The dealer has made several attempts to fix the issue, but they have never been able to fix it. Any ideas as to what this could be?
Other issues that have been fixed (just documenting here for future buyers/interested parties etc):
- Electric parking brake (EPB) unable to actuate due to low battery voltage (fixed by dealer, battery was replaced)
- Rattle from center channel speaker (fixed by dealer, just needed to be tightened up and insulated with some foam)
- Squeaky EPB (fixed by dealer, went away but is coming back now)
- Misaligned fuel neck (fixed by dealer, basically the capless fuel neck came dislodged somehow and it was difficult to fuel up the vehicle because I had to manually push the neck up and then insert the fuel nozzle... At least it's fixed now! :) ).
The "grrrrr" noise is honestly the main concern of mine here, so any advice or help would be appreciated here. Thanks all!
OK if I install my timing belt with both cams and crankshaft timing marks aligned rotate the crank 6 revs and all my timing marks are good can I rotate the crank 1 rev and install my balancer belt with the timing marks aligned? If not can you tell me why?
Im having a lot of trouble now with my key FOB not being recognized. Even when Im standing outside the door. Sometimes, it wont even unlock the doors if I push the button in the FOB, but fortunately that happens less often. I have replaced the batteries in both FOBs, twice. No luck.
If I do get in, usually by finally using the FOB, it wont start because it says the FOB is not there. Sometimes, it will start if I push the start button WITH the FOB, other times it wont. A few days ago there was nothing I could do. Wouldnt start for me at all. Had to lock the doors and walk away for a few minutes. When I came back it acted like nothing had ever happened.
There is no pattern I can discern. No location that is more problematic than others. In fact one of the worse times we were camping in the middle of nowhere. No interference from anything... except maybe trees?
The reason Im asking about antennas is because I have done quite a bit of wiring inside the vehicle and want to make sure I havent inadvertently disconnected something. Last thing I want is for them to blame it on something I did. Does anyone have any experience troubleshooting this?
Ive also read that it can be a sign of a bad battery in the vehicle. So I intend to have that looked into as well.

I did a 2x2 on the TL like 10k ago. (Had 90k on it at the time) Only drained it once on my girls Honda. Both cars automatics of course. As I've been waiting for the last 3 months for the dealer to get the warranty engine oil consumption parts to partially rebuild the engine, I think a knock has developed. (they keep telling me they have no estimate on parts, but 3 months is getting kind of much at this point...)
Oil has been topped up regularly, think I should take it back?
I am looking at purchasing a 2005 TL with the following problems:
Car was runs fine, clutch needs to be changed. Car wont go in gear when the vehicle is on the ground. On a jack it goes in gear but clutch will not disengage.
Any ideas?
Simple (LOL) clutch change, possible linkage, or transmission problem?
02 TL type S 151k. Garaged. Owned car for 15 years. Battery is 3 months old. Daily driver. Twice in the past 2 weeks the battery is completely dead when trying to start. Appears to possibly be a battery drain somewhere. The first time the battery was so low the trunk release didnt even have enough power to open trunk. Jumped car and drove for 45 mins and was fined up until about 7 days later when the same problem happened. I always make sure to turn off radio, headlights, power windows etc before turning off/starting car to limit current draw at crank. Also confirmed all interior/courtesy lights are all powered off and all doors are closed. Original starter and alternator. Any idea what could be causing this? or maybe how to proceed to diagnose this issue...?
