Access to evaporator

Does anyone have experience gaining access to the air conditioning system evaporator? My 2015 AWD Tech has had air conditioning odor issues the last few summers, typically smelling of must and mildew. I have tried every remedy suggested on the forums to no avail: new cabin filter, Kool-It cleaner, Lysol, A/C Pro Vent and Duct cleaner, .... I believe the evaporator needs direct intervention to clean it. Could use some advice on getting access and how difficult it is. Prefer the DIY approach to spending $100s at the dealership.

I had ball joints replaced and tires balanced and rotated. A week later in the rain the avs reaction symbol cane up on its own and letter avs showed up under speedometer. Then without a feeling in change the needles went to zero on odometer and speedometer at same speed. Then minute later went to normal. Did this two times. I replaced the traction and avs fuse but unsure that may be it so I’m seeing if happened to anyone else. I boyfriend the TL 2005 at165000 and put more money into it then I paid cause I live the car. Any advice would be appreciated.

Euroformula Open: Billy Monger Wins Pau GP

Billy Monger took a sensation victory in an extraordinary Pau Grand Prix, gambling on wet tyres and taking his first single-seater win in the process.

The teenager, who races using a specially-adapted car run by Carlin as a result of being a double amputee below both knees, had qualified 11th but peeled into the pits at the end of the warm-up lap to switch from slick to wet tyres after rain started to fall on the grid.

As the Briton made his way up the order, the dominant Motopark team fought over the top four positions, led by surprise poleman Julian Hanses. He held on to the lead for 14 laps, until Red Bull-backed team-mate Liam Lawson made a disastrous move on the German through the twisty Turn 10/11 sweep that took them both out.

Although Lawson – who qualified fourth after winning the first race of the weekend – was faster than his teamates, Motopark’s choice to keep its drivers on slick tyres meant Monger was rapidly closing on them. He was just a second behind when the clash between Hanses and Lawson took place, and after holding off Carlin team-mate Nicolai Kaergaard on a safety car restart to clear the crashed cars, the Briton pulled away up front to win by 1.121 seconds.

“I just tried to pick them off one by one,” said Monger. “I just didn’t believe two years ago that I’d be winning races. I can’t believe it – I was dead last after the first lap when I pitted. Me and my engineer were fighting over the radio, he was saying we stay slicks. It was so slippery I came in [for wets] and it was the right call.”

Lawson’s fellow Red Bull junior and Motopark team-mate Yuki Tsunoda switched to wets after his teammates clashed, having already been overtaken by Monger, and used his fresh rubber advantage to close onto the back of the top two as the race ended.

Fastest lap went to Teo Martin Motorsport’s Lukas Dunner, another who left his wet tyre switch too late but still managed to finish fourth.

Fortec Motorsports’ Cameron Das was the only driver who stayed on slicks throughout the race, and was holding station in the top five after an impressive first lap where he overtook several cars. As the rain increased he was powerless to halt his slide down the order, and ended up dropping to eighth behind Carlin’s Christian Hahn and Teppei Natori and the fourth Motopark car of Marino Sato.

Surprising MPGs

My wife is about 6 weeks into her ownershp / driving of her '18 RLX Sport Hybrid, and the smile gets bigger each day after returns after her drive to/from work. She thought she'd miss her '12 TL SH-AWD, but that fear is long gone at this point. Perhaps the most surprising thing she's commented on is the MPG's she's seeing. Her route to work brings her through mostly rural roads (30-40 mph), some in-town stop 'n go, and a little bit of 60 mph - about 18 miles each way. In her SH-AWD TL, that route in the warmer months got 25 mpg consistently over her 7 year ownership. Her RLX SH-AWD now has about 2500 on the odometer, and her apples-to-apples MPG so far is between 33-34 mpg. Obviously her driving environment is the sweet spot for the RLX's hybrid mode, but it's just astounding that something so much nicer gives her almost 33 percent improved mileage. Of course she's not hitting the happy pedal too much (and not in sport mode) - but this goes to show what you can get out of this vehicle....

Navigation Local Search not working

I have a 2017 TLX tech with a full premium subscription to Acuralink. The ‘Local Search’ function returns an error message “unable to connect to server” without even attempting to dial Acuralink. All other functions work including traffic, rerouting, view routes and connecting to acuralink with the overhead button. Traffic rerouting is set to on and server connect is on.

This same problem happened last August. The dealer did a battery disconnect to reset but no joy. The problem fixed itself in Sept. by a system fix at Acuralink. It has now failed again since Feb. 2019. I found a couple of entries in an MDX.ORG forum with the same problem. I have opened a case since Feb. with Acura Canada but they have totally failed to return my call even after checking with call centre every couple of weeks.

It would be helpful to me if somebody could test this function to see if it is only a problem with my car or central to all of Acura.

Thanks

Current Best Factory Replacement Tires for '05 6MT?

Hi all, seems most threads are about aftermarket wheels and whether larger tires fit so I'm hoping you'll forgive the common question. I came here years ago for great advice on the best tires to replace the stock ones and ended up with the Bridgestone Potenza 960s - are the POTENZA RE980AS the replacement for that? Never went with the Continentals, which are what about 50% of people seemed like like back then. b/c they seem to wear pretty quickly on our other cars. That said, I put about 5,000 miles/year on the car, at most. We get snow maybe twice a year (in NC). What should I get? Thanks!

Dog crate size for rear of the '19 RDX

I have a spoiled GSD that is about 80 lbs, so on the smaller size of GSD's. I'm looking for a non-wired (I don't want to listen to the crate rattling around when I drive) crate that is only big enough for her to get into and lay down, preferably side entry since I'm guessing I'll have to keep it turned. Anyone have any recommendations or pics of their setup?

Trunk won't open

I seem to be locked out of my trunk on my 2016 TlX.
The push button on the driver side is not working.
The glove compartment switch is in the on position.
FOB will send signal and can hear actuator? moving.
I tried using the manual key method, behind the rear of the back row seat and still no go.

I'm out of options at the moment.

Is there an access to the trunk from the back seats? From the rear coffee cup holders ?
Thoughts ?

Thanks in advance.

Acura trunk tray or Weathertech or any alternative?

Hi all, just got a used 16' TLX i4 w/tech, and slowly getting all my accessories. I found many threads that talked about using the Acura trunk tray and how the 3 piece segments fit perfectly, but haven't found any comments about the materials. I almost bought one (used) but was taken back at how cheap the plastic material feel, and decided to look for other options, but so far no luck. Weathertech seems to have a custom one for TLX but not much reviews or actual pictures (and doesn't have the front portion to access the storage underneath), anyone have experience with it?

So I'm thinking the Acura made might be a better option... Anyone else feel the materials are cheap or is it just me? If there's any other suggestions I'd appreciate it.

Dual vtec on j35 engine. Put j37 heads on j35 block

Looked into some discussions involving yungone501, justnspace, tarzanboy about using j37 dual v tec heads on older j30, 32 and 35 blocks

Seems like everything will bolt on. Some mentioned oil pressure needs to be a little higher to actuate dual v tec properly. Some said plenty of oil pressure in these engines already

Previously, with invaluable help over here, I bolted on Acura rl 2006 cylinder heads onto j35a6 engine(Honda Odyssey)

Everything works. Car is much faster .but most power is at 4500rpm+.
I dont like to rev engines a lot, especially minivans. 90% is city driving under 40mph. Have lots of gaskets leaking, cranks shaft gaskets. Valve stem seals.. so decided might as well rebuild everything . But this time I would like to achieve maximum low end torque. It looks like mdx dual v tec heads from j37 are profiled better for low end torque.

Is v tec mechanical, hydrolic actuation or it needs a signal from engine computer to engage. Basically if I find j37 dual v tec heads from mdx will I need to swap ecm? To accommodate dual v tec function

2019 RDX-can you save a mix of FM, AM, and Sirius stations as favorites or presets?

Is it possible to save or preset a mix of FM, Sirius, and AM, stations on the 2019 RDX, so that I can easily scroll thru them via the steering wheel (without having to change from FM to Sirius to AM to do it)? Also, if yes, how many can you save? On my current Lexus RX, I can save up 36 mixed type stations. Thank you.

I was going to purchase a 2003 Acura TL Type S and i was trying to see if it was anyway possible to put 19x9 sized rims on the car, and will there be any problems that I should run into. The actual tire size said 235/35r19, so with that being said will the tire and rim even be able to fit on the car?

Lowered on Function & form type 1 coilovers.
Halo headlights installed.

My future plans:

Independent foglight mod.
Tailgater switch.
Possibly CF trunk & hood.
Possibly black NT03 wheels.

As for power i may do a couple things here and there. I’ll take some advice for to keep it N/A.

Next is replacing the 2 front axles. A lot of vibration during acceleration.
