GPS update

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone updated their Maps to the 2019 updates and if so what changes did the update bring(new roads, routes poi in your area). My nav is out dated. I do use it a lot whenever I am traveling to cities unknown to me. I have been using my phone, but I don’t find it as handy as the built in unit.

Windshield distortion

Just recently purchased a 2019 AWD with Tech package. Noticed that the windshields have distortions near the A pillars. Do others folks on this forum have the same on their windshields? Would appreciate comments from those with this generation of MDX (2014+)

Your favorite tire dressing

I've been struggling between tire dressings. I've used furniture polish (per youtube), silicone spray, and different types of tire slime that ends up all over the sides of my white RDX. What is your favorite for us desert dwellers.

Help. Radio display not working.

So a few weeks ago the navigation went out in my 06 TL. Not a big deal because I was planning on doing the Nexus install. But when it went out, the 1” display above the navigation stopped showing the radio station/volume. The rest of the display still works (climate and clock.) Are these related? Is there a way to get the display to work again without fixing the nav?

Av6 Swap

I'm so confused now guys based on what I'm hearing from the transmission shop in my area. They have been in business over 26 years now and have a 5 star reviews from near and far.

I emailed yesterday for a quote on the swap and the guy told me that every V^Honda 2003- 2007/Acura 99 - 08 has the transmission problem and it's not worth it doing the swap if it's not a new or remanufactured transmission..

I read a few threads on Accord.net of people with 06-07 having shift issues like ours but I'm not 100% sure what the full issue is... I did mention that many people have done the swap sucessfully and has had no issues but I'm not sure if he read my email properly..

Is there anything truly an issue with 06-07s? Because i'm sure if he's reffering to the non BAYA types.

Which LSD kits will work with 2015+ TLX (3.5L V6 P-AWS to be precise)

It seems the older TLs came with LSDs, I don't understand why our newer TLX does not. How completely does the P-AWS alleviate the need for LSD? My guess is only partially.

It was recommended to me as the first upgrade I should install when I was asking around.

I did some searching, but couldn't seem to find which kits are compatible.

New member 08 TL Type S

How's it going everyone. I'm a new member, but I've been using acurazine for a few months now. I purchased the car a few years ago with about 59K miles from AZ, drove it to California. I previously owned a 2000 JRSC Prelude. Loved that thing to death, but my family was getting bigger so I had to let it go. Besides the TL, I own a 2013 Pilot and a 1991 NSX (63k mi if anybody is curious). Anyways, I haven't done much to the car. I removed the bluetooth module because it was draining my battery. I ended up purchasing a USA Spec bluetooth adapter because it has the ability to play music and I can use the steering wheel buttons to change songs and answer phone calls. I replaced the OEM mic with the mic that came with the adapter, routed the wire to the back of the trunk where the bluetooth unit is at and it works great. I just installed the J37 manifold with the throttle body. I wanted to keep everything looking stock so I purchased the air tube that comes off of a 2009-2014 TL. I had to cut a hole in the tube to install the intake sensor. It is a little short but it works so far. My plans right now are to get HFPC, J-pipe, but keep the stock exhaust. Anyways, this is my first post. I will be selling my throttle body and intake manifold soon so please be on the lookout! Feel free to PM me if you're interested.

New owner, Just replaced clutch, car feels like stalling

Hey all,

I’m the new owner of a 2012 TL SH-AWD. Car had about 56k miles when I got it and I put about 1500 since then.

It is my first manual car and unfortunately I burned the clutch a bit while I was learning. I needed to replace the ball joints (dealer supplied) and figured I could save a little on labor costs by replacing the clutch at the same time. While the clutch didn’t need to be replaced at that moment, the engagement point was very high and shifting into 2nd was becoming more and more difficult every day, I felt it was detrimental to learning how to drive stick.

Fast forward to today, I just picked up the car from the mechanic after a 2-day job on the clutch, and I feel the clutch has very little resistance compared to before. About the same resistance as pressing the gas pedal. Additionally, the clutch begins to bite after I lift off about an inch before, which is vastly different than what it was before when it was near the top of the pedal throw.
This wouldn’t really pose a problem, except that it feels like the car is stalling as soon as the clutch begins to grab. Giving it gas when the clutch grabs doesn’t help either, as it feels like the car is shaking itself to death until the clutch pedal is near the top. Shifting into gears is okay, but trying to move around in 1st and reverse feels like I’m making a lot of wear on the brand new clutch.

Has this been typical of anyone else who has replaced their clutch? Before, I was able to get the car moving from a stop with just the clutch (but I know that lugs the engine so I don’t do that anymore), but now the car does not move at all at the biting point and instead it will shake and feel like it will stall.

Primary Cat Mod Question

So i have a 05 TL 5AT and i have a straight pipe from the 3rd cat to the back of the car basically (no resonator, mid and rear mufflers) and of course a few weeks after i straight pipe, i get thrown a P0430 code and its the catalytic converters, im debating just cutting them out since it would probably be cheaper then buying 2 new primary cats but ive looked into the forums and i havent really heard anybody cutting out the primary cats is there something about it im missing? what would be the results performance and noise wise?

Maintenance Minder with new gauge cluster & odometer

$

2015 Acura RDX Tech.

Gauge cluster failed around 40,000 km & was replaced, but Acura could not read km from old cluster and so new odometer was at 0 when I got the vehicle back.

Question: will the Maintenance Minder be reset to 0 km and the new gauge cluster, or is old data retained somewhere else so it is accurate to previous (old original) odometer reading of 40,000 km?

Neither Acura head office nor Acura dealer can answer this for me, and if the Maintenance Minder resets to the replacement gauge cluster it could be very costly with fluid replacements, brake and other services that are not really necessary. Right now with 5,000 km on the new odometer, it says I have 20% left until the next service, but does not tell me yet what type of service that will be.

Anyone know?

Thanks!

remodel time!

2007 TL $6900 Should I buy?

Hello Friends! Havent been here since i sold my 2001 TL 2 years ago. Been driving a Mercury Sable which i inherited and cant stand driving as it navigates teh road like a boat! I might get a cheap, well maintained '08 BMW 328xi from a cousin for a song, but I still would prefer an Acura. I have a budget of about $9000 but all i see are 2008 and older with 110,000 + miles. How does the '07 TL stack up against other years within this generation? I am considering an 07 TL with 86,000 miles . The asking price is $6900 which for NY thats a very fair price assuming the car isnt in need of a major issue.
Is it a good year? Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!
Undecided........: Is there any known design flaws in an '07 that might have been rectified in newer models? Just curious.
