Negative Battery Cable

I was doing a drain and fill on my transmission a couple days ago and saw the negative battery cable that goes to the transmission ripped off from the terminal and all stranded out... Can I solder a copper terminal back to it and put it back on? New ones are like 40 bucks and I got so much other parts to purchase ( tires,rotors, purge solenoid etc).

I have 4 gauge wire I was gonna do a big 3 upgrade on my civic with but I'm not sure if it's big enough.

Transmission fluid quick question!

Hows it going everyone ! Ive just recently purchase a 2005 Acura TL 6MT and i was wondering if anyone knows if amsoil manual synchromesh transmission fluid is good for the TL. I've seen good results of it being used on rsx type s but I'm not sure if there is a better preference for the TL. Also would there be a problem if i do a transmission flush and replace it with a new type of tranny fluid ? Thanks for your time !

J35a3 swap questions

Hello!

I've been doing some research on here because I'm interested in a j35a3 swap but not for a CL-S but a civic. I think the same things should apply except a harness merge.

Right now I'm thinking the plan is to go

J35a3 stock
RL cam
J37 intake
6 speed manual
CL-S manual ECU

Just like of you guys I'm interested in going a true manual set up. When I did the math and really thought how much I would gain by going AEM imo it just wasnt worth the pedestrian gain. I've seen some of you guys have successfully swapped j35a3s into your CL-S.

Did you need to swap out the auto sensors on the engine for the j32a2 sensors? I dont beleive they would be plug and play. I know the auto type S and manual have different sensors. Is there any other parts that need to be replaced?

Also, locating a CL-S manual ECU seems to be my biggest road block atm. Locating one has not been easy and I'm not sure how much theyll cost. All I know is that itll be far cheaper than the AEM one (hopefully) lol.

Any advice where to find one? Thanks!

This seems to be the easiest way to go in terms of stock power on OEM parts.

The 2019 RDX is a death trap

The touchpad that you have to deal with on the console is a horrible Gimmick. You have to look down at the console to find the home button then slide your hand around while looking at tiny type on the screen above. To navigate through the system requires continuous looking away from the road to find what you want. I’ve almost gotten into multiple accidents because of this so I returned the car. This is an extreme safety issue and I felt that it was necessary to do. Now they are telling me I have to give them $7,000 if I want to ensure my safety by returning the car. This car is dangerous!
And using voice commands instead of the touch pad is a worthless option as well. To change radio modes it will with dial your neighbor instead of changing the channel so it adds to the distress of operating the system and is worthless. Don’t buy this car!!!

Squeaky Windshield Wipers

Any recommendations on how to resolve squeaky windshield wipers? It only makes noise in one direction and with a very light mist precipitation event. In moderate rain or more it is silent. Any ideas on how to resolve it. The wipers are relatively new. I thank you in advance for your counsel.

Car slowing down randomly only when at higher speeds in gears 4 and 5

My acura is at 200,000 miles, 2006 tl automatic. Recently while driving at 60+ mph I have been experiencing strange behavior from my car. My car, while throttling at a constant rate, will slow down suddenly for a few seconds like their is no power and then continue to drive normal. This happens randomly. My car also gets stuck at 4000 rpms in 4th gear and will not gear up to 5th randomly also. At the same time of all of this too, my cruise control set button stopped working. Has anyone else experienced this or know the solution to this problem?

Is there a limit on how many keys can be programmed to car?

Like the title says, is there a limit? I have to back to my dealer to get them to install my remote start, when i took the car home with me the sales person told me to bring both keys back when I returned and they would give me the two keys with remote start buttons, but I kindof want to keep a third as a spare, so i was wondering if there is a limit?

Acura CL won't start

Hey everyone I have an 01 CL-S with 167xxx miles and recently it shut off randomly when I left a relatives. About a week later it isn't starting. Still cranks strong but won't start. I don't have the CEL on so not sure what to do. I checked the main fuel relay for cracks on circuit board like I saw on another post and looks fine. Spark plugs were changed about 1k miles ago. Car was not having any issues or CEL since I've owned for a couple years and always has ran great (getting about 30mpg).

I've researched a bit and saw a few possible fixes but wanted to know if sensors can be checked before I replace them and/or any other things I can do to start my troubleshooting. Thanks in advance.

Engine oil pressure switch is faulty

So short story 2010 TL SH-AWD with 123k. Car has been dealership maintained all of its life. Fully xynthetic oil changed every 5k. Mostly hwy miles. I have noticed it eats 1/2 a qt of oil (valvoline) every 3k miles so usually I drop in a 1/2 a qt at that point and run to 5k then change it all.

Today I am right at about 3k, I am driving and coming up to a stop light. I am slowing down and all of a sudden I get a low oil level light and then it goes off when I come to a stop. It never came on again the next 15 or so minutes the rest of the way home. I pop the hood when I get home and check the oil level. Its right at about the bottom of the cross hatches as usual at 3k, I drop in another 1/2 qt and I am right back to mid hatches on the dip stick. I normally see it get this low and oil light has never come on. Remember it was at minimum oil level per the dip stick, not below.

I am trying to figure out what caused the low level message and am wondering if that warning is based on oil shifiting to the front of the pan while braking, or if that light is based on oil pressure and I have a bigger issue lurking. I suppose the start of the answer comes down to if the car has both an oil level sensor and an oil pressure sensor, or just an oil pressure sensor. Again while oil level was down it was still in the hatch marks. I have never got an oil light at that level

some play in clutch pedal sometimes.

I've got a 05 TL manual. Sometimes there is some play in the pedal. Sometimes it seems a bit sticky upon release. hesistating slightly before coming back up. Then it'll go back to normal and the pedal feels great. I check the level in the clutch master cylinder and it is in between the two marks. Thanks.

Acura TL satellite radio not working

About 2 weeks ago I began to intermittenly lose the satellite radio on my Acura TL 2004 without navigation. When this occurs, the display of channels and cd chg symbol disappears but everything else on display still shows (i.e. temperature, Bluetooth symbol) and the AM/FM radio still works. I checked the fuse and it seems good so don’t think that is the issue since I’m also able to listen to am/fm radio. I stopped by a car audio store and they without doing anything stated I should get a replacement of the display and radio from a local junk yard for $200 plus $100 for him to install. . I assume a mechanic is going to charge me a min of $100 to troubleshoot issue only for him to possibly tell me the same thing. Anything feedbak you might be able to provide in narrowing down the issue would be helpful in determining whether I should take the chance and have mechanic troubleshoot with hope it’s just a lose wire. liked the thread about cleanin the screens on the solenoids, and changing out the filter external
You know the one acura told me that didnt' exist on my silver bullet . Just wanted to give a shout
out for all the money this site has saved me over the Years Love the reset ecu tcu trick holding down the gas
pedal for 35 seconds and pulling the car out of limp mode. Just for S & G's came some one refresh my memory
about the double A B solenoid. and the sensors they are just magnetic proxys Perhaps the no such filter replacement
is over due,

RLX SH versus Tesla 3 or used Tesla S?

First off, I do not own an RLX SH, or any RLX for that matter. I am interested though. I do own a 2011 RDX FWD, so I somewhat know the technology the RLX has, and I don't mind it since there is some familiarity with the round dial and antiquated navigation and such. So if you were going to spend $50 to $60k for a sedan, why the RLX versus the Tesla? If range anxiety was no problem for normal commutes and such. I understand, taking it from Florida to California on a cross-country trip would be somewhat a factor, but I am talking normal day to day, weekend driving of putting 200 to 350 miles a week. I drove a Model S over the weekend, and was thoroughly impressed with how it drove like a car, but accelerated like a bat out of ....... Does the RLX accelerate like that? I was not as impressed with the interior of the Tesla. Guess it would take getting used to. Did anyone cross shop these vehicles and why did you choose the RLX. Thanks.

Should I add Fog Lights?

Going back to the dealership in May to have a few items added to the RDX.
  • Body Side Molding
  • Door Handle Film
  • Splash Guards
  • Welcome Lights
The above are fairly cheap. But I thought I wanted fog lights also until I saw the cost ($625 + Install). Not sure it is worth that.
Opinions? Does any one want to post a pick of their RDX (at night) with the Fog Lights on? From what I've seen, they are a bit boring and do not enhance the look of the car much.

Does the base awd rdx have ventilated seat hack?

I was looking for something in my wife’s 2015 base awd, and I noticed a fan housing under the seat. She also has perforated leather seats, which I always though was odd when it didn’t have vented seats. I’ve heard of some cars doing this (installing the hardware for vented seats but not the button or wiring), not sure if it was ever established that the rdx is one of those.

2001 3.2 TL: Transmission Level and P0740

I am having trouble reading my transmission fluid level on my 2001 Acura TL. Can anyone tell me if that looks normal? My car has 197K miles on it and had the transmission rebuilt at around 165k.

I also have a P0740 code for about a month but the car is driving fine. The Acura mechanic told me that I can probably drive the car until it dies then sell it for scraps.
