Blinking 3rd gear upshifts by itself in SS Mode

Hey all, I am new to posting in the forums but have been using it over the years to solve many issues with my 03 CLS. Now i currently have an amazing TLS 07 which i adore but cannot seem to solve a problem i am having, I hope one of you car gurus can help me fix it.

Problem: When in SS mode i occasionally cannot hold 3rd gear. Transmission will upshift by itself to 4th at around 4,500 rpm. The 3rd Gear indicator also blinks and than upshifts around 4,500 rpm only.-give or take a couple hundred rpm. It does this solely by itself. WEIRD!!

-I have changed the 3rd and 4th gear pressure sensors
-I have 70,000 miles on the TL
-I recently purchased it used
-Transmission shifts great otherwise

  • Condition/Notes: Forgestar wheels I had on my Genesis Coupe. Had them on for a good 3 years. They were powder coated flat/matte on the inside barrel and outside with white pinstripe. There are some curb rashes on the front ones. Some of the white pinstriping is coming off on all of the wheels but easily fixable with a bit of white paint and steady hands. Some minor chips on 2 of the wheels. Valve stems are not included. You can see the pictures below of details of damage. No bends or cracks on these wheels.

I am not sure if this is in another thread, but here are the invoice prices for each TLX trim based on a car buying service my credit union offers. The data is pulled from NADA, so it should be legit.

Invoice prices from NADA w/o destination:

Base 4cyl= $29,167

Tech 4cyl= $32,897.64

Base V6= $33,078.11

Tech V6= $39,250.00

Advance V6= $39,815.75

Tech SHAWD= $38,843.98

Advance SHAWD= $41,851.85

I have a set of TSW Nurgurgring 18x8.5 rotary forged wheels that I would like to trade. I bought a new car and would like to change the look. I'm mainly looking for OEM Honda or Acure rims in particular HFP wheels but am open to other trades. These have never been mounted or seen a tire.

I've got a jug of BMW coolant left over from my previous car. It's the undiluted kind, but I don't know if different brands of coolant are compatible or can be mixed.

Is this jug usable in my 2015 Acura RDX?

TLX dosent do it for me

Test drove the TLX Advanced today. Im sorry but it didn't do it for me. I have enjoyed my 2004 3rd Generation TL and was hoping to find the same enjoyment out of a TLX but not going to happen. The TLX just did not feel as sporty as 3rd gen in the drive, acceleration or looks. Acura really messed up on the wheels. The dash board is generic but the center console is very cool. Back seat was not as comfortable as it could have been. Bmw gives a service warranty up to 50k at no additional cost. Acura wants almost 1500.00 dollars for something similar. The cool electronics on the Acura are probably a draw to some who are more technosavy than me. I think that Acura got lucky on the 3rd generation TL and the TLX is what one should expect from this company.

Auto-dimming rearview mirror

Hi,

Recently traded in a RDX for a ILX premium. (financial reasons!)

Noticed that the green lights on the mirror are not on.
And that the headlights in the mirror are not noticeably dimmed.

Anyone know if there is a switch to turn them on?

few questions about distributor and power steering

So lately I've been having problems with my power steering and distributor cap. I've put 2 power steering pumps on my car and about a week later starts making noise and suction hose collapses when putting pumps in I fill them with acura fluid and put new suction hose on and bleed the system turnin lock to lock. But both times I've put new ones on make noise a week later I'll take the belt off for a little connect it and all is good. Now for my other problem I recently put a cap and rotor on my car (duralast) crap I didn't see or get a gasket with the cap and was wondering if there even is one I ordered everything (gaskets) from acura for it hopefully helps with my problem but do you guys use anything else? When I took it off there was rtv all around the mating surface and I took all of it off prior to reinstalling but I do hear a ticking noise as if it's arcing out of the cap. When I drive rpm jump and car surges and it has given the random misfire code just trying to find input into all of this any help is much appreciated thank yoh!

Charging the battery

Ok this was a huge surprise. The wife and kids were gone for a couple of weeks and I thought I would hook my Ctek charger up to the MDX. Yikes.
1. In order to get to the negative connection (the engine lift point), you have to remove the engine cover?
2. The negative terminal on the battery (say you did not want to lift the engine cover) is not accessible as it is halfway under the hood?
3. The distance between the positive terminal on the battery and the engine lift point is so far that I'm not sure any charger out there can span that distance.

What exactly was Acura thinking here?

Navigation Startup Lag

I have searched regarding my issue, and haven't managed to find an identical problem.

When I start my vehicle the screen comes up fine, and if I agree and continue, I see the GPS, and my position is correct.

Now, if I start driving, it will take upwards of 3 minutes for my GPS to finally realize that I have started moving, and then jump about a quarter mile at a time (DIESEL!), until it catches up to me.

The same thing happens if I start the vehicle, get into my Nav, and try to enter an address. It will not allow me to do anything for a few minutes, but then after it starts moving, everything works just fine.

I also do occasionally get Nav Failure popups, even if I let the screen go black. New nav time?

New rims! Varrstoen es2h

Haven't really been active on this forum for about 2 years now but I coughed up some monies to purchase these Varrstoens.

They're the new es2h that doesn't require heavy mods to fenders or camber adjustments. Although the walls are straighter than I thought they would be. I was chatting it up with one of the reps and was given the impression they would have some concavity to them but apparently not.
Still nice rims, I'm going to pair them up with the new Dunlop direzza dz102's (245/35/19) and see how they look :smile:

seat leather split

'06 which has 4 inch fine line split in driver's side seat located not on seat itself but on the side facing driver door. Was going to take some black duct tape and use it but maybe it won't hold as it will compress everytime the seat is used. Any ideas or experience?
