So someone told me my tail lights arent working so I checked found the small 15 amp fuse blown under (small ext) number 15 so i replaced it started the truck up and it popped as soon as the lights were turned on. So I removed all the bulbs to the rear including tag lights put another fuse in same thing. The brake lights still work and everything else is fine. Wires all look good no corrosion or anything. I'm totally lost at this point anyone have any ideas what else to check? Is there a relay for the tail lights?

Hi,

I'm Zeke and I just took ownership of a 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD silver w/ 75k miles no issues with the electronics and interior/exterior in excellent condition. The previous owner had it garaged kept the majority of the time and carfax shows regular maintenance completed every 15-20k. Honda dealership that my finance's Auto Group company owns that she works for gave me a good deal $12,000.

Hi all,

New member just bought a 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD automatic. I have been trying to search for an alternate rear dff and transmission fluid on this site as well as google, but I am not coming up with anything other than Acura's DFSP or Honda's own fluids. Can I use anything else other than those two? Or would you recommend sticking to them?

Thanks!

Does anybody have any tips for getting the fog light trim off (a-spec) so I can install the front lower trim accessory? I had the bumper and fog lights off, but I could not get the fog light trim off. I followed the instructions and had all 11 retaining tabs loose and It wouldn't budge, seemed like there was something else holding it on, but there were no other clips or screws. Hours later I gave up and put it all back together. What am I missing?

Wheel Weight / Ride Quality

Good morning all! Quick random question but does anyone know if a heavier wheel translates to more compliant ride quality versus a lighter wheel on road impacts?
Looking into new wheel options and wondered if some of the aftermarkets that are lighter than OEM are better or worse in this regard. Was thinking lighter might be worse.
Thanks as always for your feedback!!

737 Skids Off Jacksonville NAS Runway into River

MIAMI — For Darwing Silva, the first sign that something was amiss when his flight landed in Jacksonville, Fla., during a thunderstorm late on Friday was that it seemed the jet did not brake after hitting the runway.

Lights zoomed by the window. He traded worried glances with other passengers.

Then came the jolt.

“It was just the biggest impact I’ve ever felt in my life,” Mr. Silva said on Saturday. “Like an explosion, almost.”

He lurched forward in his seat — 14B, the middle seat in an exit row — and hit his head on the seatback in front of him.

Seconds later, Mr. Silva felt water. “Up to my ankles,” he said. “And there was water coming in from above the roof of the plane.”

The Boeing 737 had slid off the runway of the naval air station in Jacksonville, hit a seawall of loose rocks and splashed into the shallow waters of the St. Johns River. All 136 passengers and seven crew members would be rescued, 22 of them with non-life-threatening injuries.

But all Mr. Silva knew at the time was that the flight, which had taken off from Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, had landed in water — and that someone was yelling something about smelling jet fuel.

“I just kind of snapped” into action, said Mr. Silva, 35, a civilian safety manager for a roofing company.

He grabbed his backpack, which was hanging from an overhead bin that had popped open during the accident. He slipped past the female passenger in the window seat, who was bracing her head between her knees, opened the exit door, and found himself on a wing of the plane.

© Gary Mccullough/Associated Press Bruce Landsberg, right, vice chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board, said a team had arrived in Jacksonville on Saturday to begin investigating the accident.

Others began filing onto the wing, amid the darkness, rain and lightning. Mr. Silva called his father to let him know he was O.K. Eventually, the passengers made it onto an evacuation raft, children and women first, and emergency workers used a cable to guide them ashore.

“I’ve gone over so many of those safety instructions preflight,” Mr. Silva said. “You never really think you’re going to be the one to have to open the door.”

His trip seemed cursed from the start. The charter plane, operated by Miami Air International, had arrived four hours late. The flight had been unbearably hot, said Cheryl Bormann, 59, one of the Jacksonville passengers, and people had to fan themselves because the air conditioning was not working properly. Mr. Silva had taken off his polo shirt and was sweltering in his undershirt.

As the flight neared Jacksonville, the plane flew into a storm. There was some turbulence, but the crew gave no warnings about potential landing trouble.

It felt as if the front part of the plane had hit the ground hard before the rest of it had, Ms. Bormann said.

“It bounces and it swirls and it tilts and it tips, and you can tell the pilot is trying to control it and is not having much success,” she said. “It’s literally bouncing up and down, from side to side. Things are falling down from the overhead bins. People are holding onto their small children.”

© Reuters A charter plane slid off the runway at the naval air station in Jacksonville, Fla., and into the St. Johns River, on Friday. All passengers and crew members were rescued. Miami Air International regularly transports military service members and their families from the base in Guantánamo Bay to naval air stations in Jacksonville and Norfolk, Va. Officials for the carrier did not return phone calls on Saturday about the accident.

Pets traveling in the plane’s cargo hold were presumed dead, said Kaylee LaRocque, a spokeswoman for the naval air station. Navy personnel had not been able to reach the cargo hold, which took on water, Ms. LaRocque said.

“We can’t get them out because the aircraft is not safe right now,” she said. Four pets were listed on the flight manifest, though more could have been taken aboard at the last minute, Ms. LaRocque said.

A team of 16 investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board arrived in Jacksonville on Saturday to begin to figure out what went wrong, said Bruce Landsberg, the board’s vice chairman. By Saturday afternoon, investigators had recovered the flight data recorder, which was undamaged.

The mishap stranded about 125 passengers at Guantánamo on Saturday morning. They were awaiting the return of the Miami Air plane for a flight to Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.

The stranded group included a military judge who announced this week that he would no longer preside over the case against Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and four other men accused of plotting the Sept. 11 attacks. Also among them were two brigadier generals, prosecutors, defense lawyers and journalists who had arrived a week earlier for a pretrial hearing in the case.

Mr. Silva said he had driven straight from the naval station to his home in Miami, arriving at about 5:30 a.m.

“I feel my neck sore. My right eye is sore,” he said. “I am going to get checked out just to make sure everything is O.K., but at that moment, I didn’t feel much. The adrenaline, I guess.”

Ms. Bormann, a civilian criminal defense attorney in the 9/11 trial, spent the day scrambling to get a change of clothes, a new phone and enough forms of I.D. to get on a flight home to Chicago. Her few remaining belongings were in a reusable grocery bag that she was now using as a purse.

“I’m a criminal defense lawyer who handles capital cases — trauma is something I’m pretty accustomed to,” she said. “But you don’t realize it until it hits you. I sat on my bed and cried this morning in my hotel room.

“I have to get on a plane tomorrow,” she added. “And I’m not looking forward to it.”

Want a new car this year, thinking Acura or Lexus.

So Im a big fan of Acura/Honda based on my ownership of the Civic, TSX and TLS, the Acura TLX looks like a great car and it has that V6 to boot, the ILX dont look too shabby either and even though I love the V6 Im fine with a 2.4

So Acura has always been on my mind but I gotta say the Lexus IS300/350 are very good looking and have the power to boot, Honda/Acura is ever reliable but so is Toyota, its nice that the IS models are made in JP too.

I will say this, if I could afford an ISF I’d take it in a second.

Based on my budget I’d be looking at a 2015/2017 maybe and a budget of around 25k max, anyone drive all these cars? Thoughts?

Exhaust tips for Magnaflows

Hey all, been searching for a while but haven't seen any answer for this.

I'm looking into buying some Magnaflows to replace my stock exhausts and I'm wondering how long the tips can be? I don't want them sticking out from the bumper, or not too much.

The model of Magnaflows I'm looking at is 11365 and I have a Type-S (if that makes a difference).

I've found a couple of them that I'm interested in, and the total length is 9.5" and 9.75" I think.

Transmission oil mixing with coolant?

Hello all,
I have a 2006 Acura TL 3.2 automatic with just over 100,000 miles on it. Car is very well taken care of and I’ve never had a major issue until just now.
I lost my forward gear in a Pieology parking lot for about 15 seconds. Then the car was able to roll forward and I was able to driving home. On the drive home I lost first gear three or four times at stop lights for about 10 to 15 seconds and then with higher revs (2.5 to 3k) the car would start moving and everything was fine. (weird coincidence was that every time I lost my forward gear the external temperature display would go out a read “- - -“ rather than the external ambient air temperature)
Upon getting at home I found “chocolate milk” in the radiator overflow as well as in the radiator and in the transmission.
There was no white smoke ever so I don’t think it was a head gasket failure.
There was no engine overheating or even getting past the halfway mark on the gauge
After doing some research I figured that it was a failed radiator and the trans cooler was a part of the radiator (like in other Acuras) and an internal wall failed allowing the fluids to mix. The problem is that after I pulled my radiator out of my car I realize that there is no transmission cooler in my radiator. There is nowhere for the lines to connect at all.

What else is weird is that when I checked the transmission dipstick the fluid was a good 3 or 4 inches higher on the dipstick then the “hot” reading. I drained my transmission I pulled out about 6 quarts of brown milky fluid. Yes, 6 quarts!
That’s crazy because to refill it after an oil change is only 3 quarts.

Anybody have any idea what’s going on?

Getting ready to order ball joints need a little help

So I'm getting ready to order new ball joints, I believe mine are original. Also going to be installing tein coilovers, figure I better replace the ball joints lol. I've read most of the post I could find through Google search. So has the moog issue been fixed? Could I go with an aftermarket ball joint like mevotech from rockauto, it has a cotterpin. Is OEM truly better than aftermarket, with all the OEM fails is see and read about I'm a little concerned. I guess it boils down to this if OEM fails and breaks, then why spend $100 each when I could buy moog or something else at $40 each and still have the same worry lol...
