Hey guys! :wave: Three years ago I was a victim of a hit and run. Not even two weeks after this incident, a couch flew out of a truck and hit my car while I was traveling down the highway (was unable to swerve out of the way due to being surrounded by semis). Unfortunately, my CL has been hibernating in the third car stall since these incidents. I have all the parts bought, just need to get them installed. When I tried starting her up for the season, she wouldn't turn over. First thing I tested to troubleshoot the problem was my batteries. Come to find out, all three of my OPTIMA YELLOWTOP batteries won't hold a charge anymore :swear: In retrospect, I should have hooked-up a battery conditioner/maintainer.
The reason I had three batteries was to support my audio system (total of 2,440 max RMS watts and 7,320 peak watts) and accessories (LED undercar kit, LED interior kit, etc.). Instead of buying three batteries again, I thought I would replace my stock alternator with a higher output alternator allowing me to buy only one or two batteries. I thought this would be a good route to go, especially since my stock alternator is getting old and has endured over 200,000 miles. What is the highest output alternator available for the 2G CL? The highest output alternator I have found is DC Power Engineering's 320 amp HP series [https://www.dcpowerinc.com/fit/2001~...69-320-hp.html]. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the stock alternator for a 2001 CL-P is 105 amps. Does anyone have any experience and/or input on this alternator?
What performance battery manufacturer would you recommend? I heard since OPTIMA moved their production facility from here in the U.S. to Mexico, their quality has gone downhill. Thus, I am considering going with a different manufacturer like Kinetik [http://www.kinetikaudio.com/2009/products.asp]. Does anyone have any experience and/or input on Kinetik power cells?
