So here goes my first thread on this forum. I have searched to the fullest extent that I know, but I still cant find any help...
In my valve cover gasket installation process, I am struggling to properly seat the spark plug tube seal into the valve cover. From what I have gathered, this is not an easy install.
I have tried freezing the seals and heating the valve cover with a heating gun. Then, placing some silicone/oil on the edges of the seal, I pressed the seal into place and used a 1 3/16" socket on the edges of the seal as a surface to hammer on. I also tried using the socket setup with a hydraulic press to squeeze the seal into place.
I have successfully torn up 4 seals from the pressure I need to apply to try to get the seals to seat properly.
Any suggestions?? I am about ready to throw a valve cover through a wall.
Thanks
P.s. I am using a felpro gasket set. Could that be the issue with the gaskets not being an exact fit?
