Help!!!
I have a 2003 Acura CL type S. I replaced the battery 11 months ago. I started having intermittent starting problems from july of this year where it starts normally and i drive some and stop the car few minutes later, when i try starting the car it would not start. There is no cranking. The complete electronic system resets it self. i would have to try multiple times before i could get it to start. when it starts, it runs fine for few days and the issue re-occurs.
The frequency of these intermittent problems have increased. i took it the dealership and they could not replicate the problem (they suggested replacing the starter). for a second opinion, over this weekend i took it to a mechanic who has worked on my car before and he could not replicate the problem and that evening i drove my car to a gas station and after a re-fill i tried re-starting and it not start. It went completely dead. had to call a tow truck to help me get the car to firestone. they looked at it and said the battery was dead and had to be replaced. I told them that it was a new battery. but had to replace it to get going.
please if any one could suggest or guess what the problem might be, that would be of great help.
a) can a bad starter cause the battery to drain so fast.
b) there was no corrosion on the connections.
c) my mechanic looked at all connections and also positively tested the battery the morning of the day on which it completely went dead.
