Hey fellas.. I recently wrote a thread inquiring about a price a dealer was giving to change front brakes among other things. Following the advice and my gut, I thought that the price was a rip off (from a dealer that has done right by me for several years so far)..
So I picked up my '08 RL with just an oil change and inspection done. However, I now hear a high pitched sound that sounds like a police siren or a mono sound, fly pop baseball being hit on an NES or Game Boy baseball video game (eccentric way to describe it I know, but it's a spot on similar sound for those that know what I'm talking about).
This sound will happen at around 25 or 30mph and then quickly stop once I surpass that speed. It also only happens during the first time the car hits that speed after not being driven for atleast 12 to 24 hours. I remember that some RL's can make a whir (as some Aziners described it) at around this speed but this sound is louder and more high pitched. I also thought it happened primarily on '05's and '06's with '08's being a rarity..
The point is that this sound did not exist before I brought it to the dealer and it would be impossible to replicate it as it only makes the sound the initial time of hitting 30. I would have to park it there, come back the next day, then drive it in order to replicate the sound. So what do you guys think could be wrong? Do you guys think that this is a classic case of dealer foul play or just a coincidence?? If it is foul play, how can I prove it? I didn't complain of this sound when I initially brought the car in.. I also did eventually buy an AcuraCare warranty for my RL a few years after I initially brought the car itself.
Thanks in advance for the input fellas. It is beyond frustrating that being unscrupulous and dishonest is the standard for anything involving many dealerships.. It's even more sad that a luxury brand's dealerships could behave in such a way.. I thought that they are held to a higher standard. Sorry just venting.. :annoyed:
