My mother just received an upgrade to her internet speed via the local cable company. They installed a Motorola SBG6580 DOCSIS 3.0 modem.
The user guide states:
'PROTECT YOUR NETWORK - CHANGE THE DEFAULT PASSWORDS!
Default passwords are commonly shared on the Internet. Protect your information and your network from unauthorized access; change the modems default passwords BEFORE connecting to the Internet.
Use an Ethernet connection to change the passwords. NEVER configure your modem over a wireless network connection.'
Her set-up is just for home use, with the cable connected to the back of the modem, with no other networking functionality.
Is this recommended for her added security?:bitelip::blush:
Thanks in advance.
