A dumb question but I don't have an owners manual

I know the Auto button on the rear view mirror is the dimmer and the little green light on then drivers side is the "on" indicator. I'm just curious as to what the left one is, it never seems to come on...

I just got this car less than a week ago and am discovering new things everyday.
