Protective Film Advice?

I am contemplating putting protective film on at least the front bumper and headlights (if not also the hood) of my Sport Hybrid. This was not discussed at purchase because my purchase was rather sudden, negotiated with the GM, and I have never installed such film before (and likely would have laughed if the finance guy had brought it up). I have a few questions and would appreciate advice and direction.

1. Too late? Is it too late to do after 1300 miles, half of them highway? I don't see any dings yet, but they are sometimes hard to see.

2. Worth doing? Is protective film in general worth doing? As I said, I have never even considered it before, but I have never before had a car that I waited so long for or that I at the start intended to drive for maybe eight years or so, or that I get such a kick out of driving.

3. Brand of film? My dealer uses a product called AutoBond, which they (the service department guys, not the sales guys) say is very advanced and doesn't yellow. Anyone know AutoBond and/or can recommend materials or companies that they have used successfully (perhaps even in eastern MA)? They want $7-900 for bumper and hood. I do tend to trust their judgment about quality, but can't find a lot of review material about AutoBond.

4. Hood or not? If I were to apply a protective film, I worry aesthetically only about the hood, where the line of film might eventually show. The RLX has a pretty horizontal hood, so I am thinking I could skip the hood and concentrate on all the vertical front surfaces, avoiding the line on the hood. Does that make sense?

5. Older posts? Are there posts on Acurazine that anyone can put their finger on that would be helpful in understanding the pros and cons of this. My search was not all that helpful.

Perhaps I am just going nuts with the buying holiday presents for my car (body side moldings, splash guards, door edge guards, branded spare tire kit, expensive installed radar detector - now protective film?). Is this a real thing? And is it useful for a car like the RLX SH-AWD? I can't say that my nine year old RL was exactly beaten up in front without film, but it did have some dings and I do a fair amount of highway driving. And I really like this car. Advice, please. Thank you.
