My goodness, it is not even December, and the temperature already plummeted to -23C last night in Calgary, and it stayed this way all through today! For those of you who are used to Fahrenheit, that is -9.4F! The windchill further brought it down to -30C last night, that is -22F!!! YIKES!!!
This was also compounded by a big snowstorm yesterday. It was mighty slippery but my TLX SH-AWD did just great with my Michelin X-ice3! I felt quite in control - even though some sections were rather slippery and some cars were fishtailing like crazy, my TLX SH-AWD handled it like a champ. There were some potentially rather scary moments that I was worrying about but it was in the end not a problem for my TLX. I guess I also did not drive like some of those idiots out there though! There were plenty of abandoned vehicles in lots of places, including the ditch.
The heated windshield, together with the heated seat and steering wheel provided some much needed help. However, the heated rear window probably could have been even more powerful, to melt all of the snow and ice away.... but it was -23C out there, so I guess that was really tough... oh, and the car started right away without any drama, even though it was parked outside in this extremely cold condition for many hours without being plugged in.
My 2012 TL SH-AWD served me extremely well during our tough winter here in Calgary. It was a wonderful winter car. Now my TLX SH-AWD is serving me well too. Apart from how it handled, I particularly appreciate the heated steering wheel and would never do without it from now on!
Oh, and the gas mileage was still amazing despite the incredibly cold temperature... :-)
BTW, I felt like I was part of the TLX "My Way" ad where they showed a frozen TLX in the extreme winter condition! LOL!!! :ugh::what::thumbsup:
