my car is a clean title with no prior accidents, 2004 TSX (cl9) 6 speed with about 143k miles, 2 owners ever, and in near pristine condition. I was rear ended today at a stoplight. the person behind me probably was going about 35 mph upon impact. no airbags went off, but my head was turned toward my passenger and the hit was so hard my hat flew off my head into the passenger side and my neck instantly felt sore along with my left (driving) arm going numb for a bit. my passenger also suffered some neck strain. luckily, i have a front and rear dash cam that captured all of it.
the car that hit me was a 2015 mazda 3, and obviously will be totalled. his bumper was cracked, fenders wrinkled and pushed into the driver door, and hood crumpled upward. despite his airbags not going off, i would likely assume that his car was salvage because that type of impact should have set off the airbags. plus his front bumper was unprimered/unpainted black on a white car with screws drilled into the sides of the bumper holding it on, so i'd assume he has wrecked the front before and didn't replace the airbags.
ANYWAY, i have the feeling that my car will be totaled out because of the age of the car, and probably because of how hard the guy hit me that there is likely frame damage. i was about to sell my car today too, for $6800. will insurance come close to this figure? trying to figure out whether it's worth totaling out and buying the car back, or just keeping whatever money they throw at me if it's even remotely close to the $6800 i was asking for.
has anyone totaled their car recently, or have insurance pay them out on their CL9? would like to get some numbers to know what to expect. thanks.
