Hello. Let's play the age old game of 'diagnose that sound'!
Here is the pertinent information:
2013 Acura TL SH-AWD Manual Transmission
After the car has warmed up (never when cold), when driving, there is a grinding noise at 4K RPM which is coming from the engine compartment. The sound only appears when the car is decelerating, never when accelerating. In other words, I can rev past 4K with no problems, but if I let go of the gas, and the RPMS start to drop down to 4K, there is a grinding noise. It does not matter whether the car is in gear; i.e. whether I am shifting gears. The noise only happens at around 4k. I can't say whether this noise can be replicated when standing because there is a rev limiter at around the 4K mark. No noise, however, when it is rev'ed up to this limiter, for what it's worth. Any ideas?
Thank you.
