The little fairing aft of the door handle disappeared from my wife's 04 TL. I Special ordered one from the dealer for $21 and change and it came attached to the metal base. It would have cost $75 in labor to put it on!
This is attached with 2 small bolts from the inside of the door. The recommended procedure is to remove the inside door panel and remove the bolts and replace the entire assembly. After getting to panel off it was impossible to see or reach the bolts without removing the door lock and other stuff. So I went to plan B that the parts and service guys said could be done but would not guarantee.Which is to carefully lift the tab off and remove the plastic cover and then push it on the old plate.
The hint is to run warm tap water over the replacement fairing assembly to make the tab a little more pliable so it doesn't break. With a thin blade raise the tab carefully just enough to pop the cap off. Then keeping it warm place it over the old base and push it on. It wouldn't stay at first so you have to push it firmly into the rubber gasket then with a putty knife between the door handle and the fairing press the tab towards the base. You know its done when you hear a click.
