Hi,
I just purchased a 2000 RL with 103,000 miles. It is green and needs some paint work. I have a few questions and am hoping you guys can help me out.
1 - Anyone in the Southern California area know of a good but affordable body shop to paint my hood, rear bumper, and a rear fender section? It is tricky to find a good mix of quality and low price, but I'm just not willing to pay top dollar on paint work for a 14 year old car because obviously price is the reason why I bought such an old car.
2 - There is oil all over the bottom of the car around what appears to be the transmission bracket (I believe this is the jack point for the front of the car). Is this a common problem that can be attributed to the transmission? Or was it more likely a messy oil change?
3 - My transmission has a grind and hesitation when shifting from 1st to 2nd, and is more pronounced if shifting at higher RPM. I read that changing the transmission fluid will help and I will do this soon. Any other thoughts on the transmission? I saw a thread where the extension shaft was caked in rusted oil? Is there a preventative or service procedure to avoid this?
4 - The hood can not be held up anymore from the hydraulic arms. Is there a fix for this? What do you guys do to prop the hood up when the arms are failed?
5 - My cluster lights are out. Is there anyone in the Los Angeles area that can lend a hand? Whenever I remove these types of components and panels I always break something or cannot align it on installation.
Thank you guys. Here's hoping for a long and happy life with the Acura RL.
Jeff
