I made a thread about this almost a year ago, but I'm on the cusp of spending almost $2-grand and don't want to make the wrong decision. The wheels are want are Axis XGT's, see below:
I have tried searching off and on for a year now and can't find anything that even comes close to these without getting into $4,XXX 3-piece forged wheels. The problem is the width (8.5") and the offset (45), which to quote tirerack "19x8 wheels with ET45 or less will be an aggressive fit for the car." Tires will be 225/40/19.
I figure tirerack wouldn't put them on there if they were going to be a major problem, but their disclaimer has me nervous. On the other hand, other (but less reputable) sites have wheel & tire packages with the same dimensions.
I'm not lowered yet, but plan to be sometime in the near future. When I do, I accept that I may have to roll the rear fenders. My passenger side has a lot of rust anyway and needs major bodywork. It's not so major that the casual observer would see the rust, but its in the lip. Collision repair bodyshops I know won't touch it, they tell me to go to the old-school guys who know how to cut sheet metal and spot-weld the contoured/bent panels in. Anyway, I digress.
This pretty much has me in a full on anxiety attack. My car currently can not be driven becasue of the winter tires wearing so badly in 80-degree temps. Fortunately, I have a company car so I can get around, but this is killing me.
I just want to make sure I'm not going to rub/contact the inner suspension parts and the front fenders. I can handle rolling the rears, but not anything else.
Please, give me some reassurance so I can pull the trigger on this. But, if you genuinely think I may encounter some of the aforementioned problems, please let me know.
This shouldn't be causing me this much anxiety, but I have some difficult life situations taking place and this is the only thing that I have the power to resolve myself, so I'd really like to get it taken care if.
*Probably the most emo and pyschologically unstable post in the wheel & tire forum yet*
