Vaeth: Custom A45 AMG (based on Mercedes-Benz A-Class) news

Press release...

Quote:

As well known, the main field of activities of the worldwide working VAETH automotive engineering company, in Hoesbach, Germany, consists in a carefully thought out comprehensive approach for vehicles coming first of all from the Mercedes-Benz company. Besides the engine tuning, there are available also smartly styled aerodynamic kits, high quality Light metal wheels, different sports chassis and exclusive interior equipments. As well, VAETH offers sports exhaust systems in the most various variants and matched to the particular car performance braking systems.

This way, VAETH automotive engineering presents tuning opportunities for Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG, the revolutionized new edition of the smallest member of the Mercedes family in a beefed up version.

At first should be mentioned the engine electronics optimization up to V 45 S by individual fine tuning including v-max augmentation up to 280 kmph in original engine control with the following result: Out of the 1.991 ccm engine capacity now come 425 HP (= 312 kW) instead of the serial 360 HP and 515 Nm of max. torque. Additional, there is offered a down pipe installation named 45 EVO with 200 cells VA-stainless steel made trimetal cat, which is good already for some percents more of power.

In addition, there is a technically sophisticated valve axle back exhaust, adjustable, by the way, by button touch, likewise made of VA stainless steel with each one oval end pipe in 140 x 90 mm and crimped end pipe edges on the right and on the left.

In terms of driving dynamics, VAETH offers club sport coilovers for street and speedway with lowering opportunity of 20 to 65 mm, the shock absorbers of which are adjustable in hardness and height (hardness adjusting only in mounted state). Thus, optimal and secure handling without loss of comfort is guaranteed. All of this including MOT-approval, of course.

Meanwhile the technical finesses are “visible” at most for the specialist, the exclusive three part forged VAETH steel rims with titan colored star are real eye catchers, because they come dimensioned in 8,5x20 in. with adequate tire set in 225/30R20 on the front and 9,5x20 in. with 265/25R20 on the rear axle. VÄTH mounted one-piece rims 8,5 x19 and 9,5 x19 inch with 235/35-19 tires or 255/30-19er on request.

Oettinger: Custom Golf R (based on Volkswagen Golf) news

Press release...

Quote:

The sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in under 4 seconds, 400 HP (!), an impressive 500 Nm (369 lb/ft) of torque and 280 km/h (174 mph) top speed: That is the OETTINGER Golf R in what is currently its highest development stage. Following the „AutoBild sports cars“ comparison test on the Sachsenring, the Friedrichsdorf based tuner went on to also win the Tuner Grand Prix 2014 as part of the „sport auto High Performance Days“ in Hockenheim with the Golf VII. 1:11:939 minutes – Best lap time in the class road registered compact cars!

This and other stories are now available immediately online at the website www.oettinger.de under the new heading „Oettinger Inside“. More importantly for all who want to give their new R more power and a sportier look: The OETTINGER conversion is available immediately.

The OETTINGER Golf R body kit (from 2.690 Euro) provides a motor sport appearance. Whether front spoiler, side skirts, rear skirt with diffuser ribs for double twin tail pipe exhaust or roof spoiler: All aerodynamic components are manufactured from high quality RIM to OEM standards.

The focus of the OETTINGER modifications is however the power unit. With skilful modification of the engine management, a larger turbocharger together with a complete sports exhaust system the OETTINGER engineers have created this superlative. The with „OETTINGER Engine Power Command“ optimised engine develops 400 HP a sensational 100 HP more than the series. Performance enhancement, turbocharger and Engine Power Command cost € 8 360 incl. fitting. The sound developed by the OETTINGER-Racing exhaust system (€ 2 590) is irresistible and energetic. The new high performance OETTINGER-Racing brakes (€ 3.590) provide vehement but safe deceleration. Finally the stylish and sporty OETTINGER type RXX rims available in 19“or 20“ (from € 2.890) provide a sufficiently superior stance.

OETTINGER has been writing history – and stories since the 1950’s. This includes the latest record drive by the Wiesbadener Martin Garbrecht at the Tuner Grand Prix. With the OETTINGER Golf VII R he laid down a scorching fastest lap in the asphalt. „Catch me if you can“: This is the slogan that the tuner from Friedrichsdorf stuck on the back of the R. The other competitors tried everything, but Martin Garbrecht utilised the 40 minutes that he, together with all the competitors, had to put down one best lap time after another.

Already in his third lap he was 3½ seconds quicker than the next best. The real sensation though, was the 9th. position overall; the Oettinger Golf VII R was noticeably quicker than many tuned AMG, BMW M3 and similar vehicles, and even within spitting distance of many a Corvette or Porsche. “So 2015 could be even more exciting. If there is no real competition in the immediate vicinity then one has to look elsewhere…” was the light hearted comment coming from the Oettinger team in response to the results.

92 Legend AC Question

I am a new Legend owner. Never had an Acura before. Think I got a pretty good deal however I was just talking with a AC man and he looks at the car and says well your on the old system using R12 for the refrigerant. And it looks at little low from looking in the condenser window. Saw a few little bubbles moving around. He says it could use a little and to not let it run dry. But when I ask where to get this done he tells me you can't buy R12 anymore. So what do I do to keep the right stuff in the AC unit?

'05 Acura TL Transmission Problems (MD/DC/VA)

Hi All,

I own a 2005 Acura TL which, I believe, is starting to experience transmission problem. It has 138,418 miles on it.

My wife mostly drives the car and she indicated that, while driving on the highway today, the car "jerked a little bit and then it was fine". When she stopped at a traffic light, "then the car would not accelerate - it made it to 10mph, then slowly slowly crept up to 30mphs" - when she stopped at the next traffic light - it did the same thing (i.e., will not accelerate).

I have not driven the car myself because of the fear of risking additional damage.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a Acura mechanic in the MD/DC/VA (I’m specifically in Bethesda, MD)?

Do you guys know where would be the best place to source parts if have to take it to an independent repair shop?

Any input would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
D

2008 Acura RDX

Hello I own a 2008 Acura RDX with Tech PKG and I am a second owner.
I purchased this car about 1 year and a half ago, at 71,000 miles. I was so happy with the car until recently, car started to shake/vibrate when accelerating. Only 2 things I did was replacing 4 tires with Hankook Ventus tires and A/C Compressor. I took it to a mechanic for inspection and told me that there is nothing wrong with the car. What can Possibly be wrong?

I need help, please I have a 2005 Acura TL, I bought the car 5 years ago never had a problem until a year ago. I was driving to visit my family 150 away when I get there my car started making weird noise. I took to mechanic it broke some bearings somewhere around the timing belt. I took to a mechanic he fix it and changed the water pump since it had already 150k miles. I drove back home a month later lifters making noises. I put rislone they stopped. Then 2 months after it started to vibrate when idle, slow when driving off after gets better, kind of holding back at point when accelerating and putting gas more than usual and after last mechanic touched the car vsa light on, I changed spark plugs dint fix it, was told to change coils bought all brand new coils and still nothing, I have taken this car to 3 mechanics no one seems to know whats wrong they all tell me. I check compression is good, valves are good, timing is on time, the last one told me that he checked everything as far a the mechanic goes and nothing is wrong that it can be that edu has to be reset, I called an electromechanic that he reffered me to explain the case and he told me thats not going to fix it. I need to check the car but I am tired of everyone charging me to see the car and not getting to the root and a solution. People please if anyone has some info that can help me I really appreciate it. I do not want to get rid of my TL.

Title-Clean and Clear

Really only looking to sell, but may trade if the car and value is right. The car does have a loan so, if by some miracle I was to trade for something, it would need to be of equal book value.

Description:
Up for sale is my rare UNMOLESTED 2006 Acura TL A-Spec. The car is a 6 speed manual transmission!! Car has low miles, currently only 98,xxx miles.
The car has never been in an accident and I have a ton(almost all) of the service receipts for the vehicle from the past owners.
The car is fully loaded and yes it does have Navi!
Car is Nighthawk Black Pearl exterior, with black leather interior.
This car is in excellent condition and it shows as you will see in the pics. Hell even the dash is in mint condition on this car! Not a single crack or fade whatsoever! Also the leather is in excellent shape!

The good:

-New Battery
-New rotors and pads- replaced just a few months back
-New engine air filter
-New cabin filter
-New professional tint job-35% all around- Done by Outtasight in Lynchburg,VA
-2012 upgraded navi disk
-Iphone/Ipod integration
-18x8 RonJon Legacy 7 wheels- do not have the factory wheels!
-Car is a true A-Spec- this car was ordered from the factory with all the A-Spec goodies (carbon trim and carbon trimmed steering wheel)

The bad:
The cars exterior is in great shape but it does have a couple of really small door dings. But they are almost unnoticeable!
Other than that there aren't any negatives to this car. I will let the pics do the talking for how well it has been maintained.

You will not find a cleaner TL with this low of miles, with all the options and 6 spd for this price anywhere else.

If I think of anything else positive, negative or anything I have left off I will update accordingly!

Ran straight over a piece of tire on the highway...

$

I took my new TL on the highway for the first time today and while cruising at 120 KPH the car in front of me swerves to the left and reveals a piece of shredded tire smack in the middle of the lane. I couldn't get out of the way as there was traffic so I slowed down as much as I could. I ended up driving over it at around 75-80 KPH and it made a loud bang as it went by. The piece was a rectangle shape probably around 4-5 inches tall and 15 inches wide. I'm pretty sure it went right down the middle of the car.

Do you guys think that I should be worried about any undercarriage damage to the car? I took a look at it afterwards and there didn't appear to be any leaks/loose pieces but it was hard to see everything. Only thing is that it seems my steering is every so slightly off centre. When driving in a straight path the Acura emblem seems to point to the right just a tad. (although that could have been there before though as I never really looked too closely)

Pretty pissed about this as the car is less than a month old but I guess you never know what can happen. :shakehead:

Hey guys, I'm looking to sell my 2007 RDX Tech. I've owned this car for 6+ years now (purchased in 2008 w/ 20k miles), and I think it's time to get into something different. I've taken the utmost care of this vehicle under my ownership -- it drives the same way from the day I bought it! Exterior has been clay, polished, waxed every 6 months and interior has always been cleaned periodically with high quality care care products (Leatherique, Zaino, etc) -- Both are a 9.5/10 -- the vehicle is EXTREMELY clean. The RDX has served me very well, and in my opinion it is by far the best CUV on the market! I may be biased though, haha

Recent maintenance includes:

- Spark Plugs changed @ 102,xxx
- Hondata Intake Manifold Gasket installed @ 102,xxx
- Transmission Fluid done @ 102,xxx
- Transfer case Fluid done @ 102, xxx
- PS fluid flush @ 102,xxx
- Nitto Motivo Tires installed @ 115,xxx + alignment
- Differential fluid done @ 117,xxx
- Brake Fluid done @ 122,xxx
- Oil Change done @ 122,xxx
- Coolant Flush done @ 122,xxx
- A/C fan clutch & field coil replaced @ 122,xxx (Recall)

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I am more than willing to provide more information about the car if interested. PM me or send me an email at rnavelkar@gmail.com :)

Interested in an 09 RL Tech - What to look for?

$
0

Hi all,

I'm going tomorrow to look at an 09 RL with the Tech pkg and 61k and some change on the clock. I did some looking around here about known issues, but really most of what I found was about the early year models(05, etc).

Just curious if there is anything in particular in the 09+ KB2's that I should be looking for outside of normal things. Having had Acura's in the past, I know they are pretty reliable, just want to make sure I cover my bases.

Thanks!!
