RDX questions for potential buyer

Hi, we are in the market for a CUV. The usual suspects one would consider. But we want reliability, so the germans are probably out. Aside from the fact x3 comes with no spare tire, what a deal breaker that is. We are closing in on the RDX, just trying to get over the finish line that this is the best for us.

Anyways, I had questions regarding the reasons the folks on german car threads bash RDX, such as:

no passenger seat adjustment, no rear vent, no parking sensors, no lighting package, navi lockout while driving, no led rear light ,no pano roof, no reading lights in rear seats, re=badged CRV

are any of those lacking things regretting that you bought the rdx.

Also, i was watching the consumer report youtube video where they show tires spinning in rain and lots of body roll....is this the norm, or were they just showing the extreme?

any input appreciated. thanks!

FS/WTT: Varrstoen ES7 wheels and tires New

I bought these and went to get tires stretched onto them and balanced and then went to put them on and because of my powdercoat being so thick on my brembos they wont clear my brakes without a 8mm spacer. I just finished my bag setup and they will not even come close to tucking. I dont have time to do fender work right now so i've decided to just sell them instead. they have zero miles on them only test fitted. they are staggered 19x9.5 all four but front is 22 offset and rear is 12. fronts will clear brembo brakes with a 3mm spacer if yours arent modified like mine and they fit base tl with no big brakes fine of course. these are brand new with brand new federal ss tires on them size 225/40 all four. If you go to buy all this new you will have two grand into it unless you get a deal. asking 1400 obo for a quick sale and because two of the wheels took quite a few wheel weights to balance, it could have been the shop that done it who knows but im just trying to be honest i have a good rep on here and want to keep it that way. these are the hyper silver color. I will post pics asap i thought i had some on my ipad but i guess not. feel free to send offers just dont get stupid with it, I dont need the money so I dont "need" to get rid of them but at the same time I dont mind hooking a fellow azine member up a little. open to trades for other wheels must be a legit wheel though or something like this a nice rep in perfect shape. 18-19" only and nothing crazy offset this is the max aggressive i want to go and i'd like less agressive. message me or email justinboyer1983@yahoo.com

2010 MDX-Power Locking Issues-Actuator?

$

Hey guys-I had a question for you. I have a 2010 MDX (about 33,000 miles on it), and a couple months ago I noticed that the doors would lock and unlock continuously depending on what speed I was going. This is something that just started happening casually. Then shortly after this began, I noticed that pressing the lock button on my key fob would NOT always lock the car (I wouldn't hear the chirp), and when I would go to see if the doors were locked, they were not, so I had to manually lock them with the key.

So I took the car in a few weeks ago to the local Honda dealer (I don't have an Acura dealer close by), and the Honda dealer said it was an actuator issue. They put in a new actuator ($240 job), and I'm now still having the problem. I am supposed to take the car back in next week for a new diagnosis, but I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar issue with their MDX or any other Acura vehicle.

Which switches have illumination?

I had my RL at the local dealers for nearly 12 days. When I received my car back (mind you Im waiting on refurb of my nav unit) my car was dirty beyond belief in the interior, the type of grime that needs to be removed with an expensive interior detail. I also had damage to my rear quarter panel and the adjoining trim (it appears it was hit and they tried to cover it up by compounding it), also scratches on my trunks paint and scratches on my nav screen.

Hard to prove any of those other than the scratch on my nav screen since that was something I brought the car in for. Anyway, right now I have some of my interior lights not illuminating on my climate-control cluster. Aside from this my left license-plate light has dead bulb and I have no illumination from my heated seat controls: they light up amber when they are in high or low setting but the switches themselves do not illuminate at night when lights are on.

I also noticed that the hazard button doesn't illuminate. Im not sure it ever did. Can someone clarify whether the large hazard button illuminates? Thanks in advance to anyone. I would also like to confirm that the heated seats switches do in fact illuminate?

It's (finally) here!

Battery Drain and Fuse Box Relay Clicking

I apologize if there's a thread somewhere in this site that answered this question. I have been searching google and honda/acura sites for three hours, so I'm giving up and making a thread.

I have an 06 MDX with about 120K miles. It's used regularly (a couple of times a week), so no long sitting periods. It's very clean inside and out. No rust, no leaks, no major modifications except the remote start alarm system which was installed by Car Toys over a year ago and hasn't had any problems to speak of.

A couple of days ago I went out to start it and found the battery dead. No response from the remote start, remote unlock, and no clicks from the starter. The dash lights were on, but dim. I jumped it off, but it was idling rough. I revved it a little (2500), let it fall, and it died. I tried to start it, but no luck. I jumped it again, carefully drove it to the garage, and turned it off. This time it started, but was idling rough.

I had been told when I got it tested a month earlier that the alternator and battery were good, but the starter was going out, so I got a new starter and changed it out. After putting in the starter and starting the car, I noticed a clicking/knocking from the #5 cylinder (front middle). Turned out to be a loose spark plug and it killed the coil pack. I replaced the coil pack and all spark plugs.

Now that I have replaced the coil pack, spark plugs, and the starter; I hooked up the battery and prepared to start. Immediately I heard a clicking coming from the under hood fuse box. I traced it to the heater motor relay. I disconnected the battery, pulled and replaced the relay, reconnected the battery, and it still clicked.

So that's part of the problem. The other part is that, whenever the terminals are connected to the battery, there is a constant drain from the battery. I test the voltage when the terminals are connected and I get 2vdc and dropping. I test it again when the terminals are disconnected and get a stable voltage around 12vdc. If I disconnect the main power from the fuse box and test with the terminals connected, I get 5vdc and dropping.

Here's the kicker. When the battery is fully charged, if I connect the terminals and turn the key, I get nothing. No clicks, no lights, nothing. I can't even turn on the interior light.

I'm truly out of ideas, so if someone else has anything I haven't tried, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Oem rotors WARPED

This is unbelievable, so i spend $250 on a set of pads and rotors for my 02 TL-S from Delray Acura in March/April and had no issues with my brakes. The past 2 weeks I've been doing more driving than usual and I've noticed the good ol' steering wheel shaking and brake pedal pulsating when i hit the brakes at any speed over 40mph. I really thought OEM brakes were going to last a long time but i am puzzled to know that the rotors warped so fast as if they were some cheap rotors from the local parts store. I do A LOT of driving but still do you guys think this is normal? I think it might be time for some XLR8 brakes, or any aftermarket brakes/rotors that won't warp on me for a long time to come.

2011 rdx turbo awd hood hot to touch?

$

Hi everyone,

A little newbie help needed. I bought a 2011 RDX tech SH-AWD and I've really been enjoying the car. But I've noticed the hood gets very hot to the touch even after just 10 minutes of driving and takes quite a while to cool down. The coolant temps are fine according to the guage but the hood just feels much hotter than it should be.

Is this normal or should it be checked out? The bumber to bumper on it has about 10 months left but I've never dealt with an acura dealership, will they be willing to take a look to see if there's a problem or will I probably be charged if nothing comes up broken?

Thanks for the thoughts!

What's causing this?

I want to say about 1500 miles ago I rotated my tires now both front tires have these markings on the sidewall. The rear tires that were previously in front never had markings such as these on them.

I want to say these tires have about 33-34psi in them and they still look like they are flat? I know my compliance bushings are torn if they plays a role at all?

Hi guys,

My 08 Type S came debadged when I purchased it several years ago and I am in the process of putting the rear badges back on.

Can someone attach the service manual page that illustrates the location of the badges on the trunk and the measurements from the edges of the trunk?

Thanks so much!
